Stevie Nicks warns Britney and Lindsay

Posted by Sam on 30th April 2007 in Celebrities, Music, Scandal

According to the singer Stevie Nicks, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan would regret their wild partying.

The Fleetwood Mac singer who had problems with drugs and drinking before and entered rehab for that purpose said that Britney and Lindsay are making the same mistakes as she did.

“If I had gotten it together, I would have had a better career. I would have made a couple more great albums. I am more worried about Britney than Lindsay, because I think Lindsay is a serious actress.”

Lindsay idolizes Nicks and is craving to play her in a biopic movie but this dream maybe wouldn’t come true because according to Nicks there wouldn’t be a film for her.

“There is no book, there is no screenplay, and there is no movie. There is never going to be a movie made without me, because it’s never going to be the story of me. Even though a lot has been written about me, the fact is nobody actually has a clue to what my life was really like. So good luck Lidnsay.”

Well it looks like we wouldn’t see Lindsay in a biopic film for Stevie Nicks but it would be very useful for her and Britney take the advice of Stevie and stop all those wild parties.

Bjork Brings it to Coachella

Posted by Sam on 30th April 2007 in Celebrities, Concerts Tour, Flash News, Music

bjork.jpgYesterday was the first day of the three-day mega concert Coachella, held at the Indio Polo Grounds.  Who actually plays polo in Indio is anyone’s guess.  I personally think they keep the field around just for the fabulous summer music.  Bjork was the star of the evening Friday night, singing old and new songs with the accompaniment of an all female brass band deck out in Day-Glo green.  She started with “Earth Intruders” a single off her new album “Volta.”  They she launched into “Army of Me,” one of my all-time favorite Bjork arias.

All-in-all, everyone in attendance was blown away by her performance.  If you haven’t fallen in love yet with Bjork’s unique and timeless voice, now is the time.  “Volta” is out there to capture you, and I am only wishing I had been there last night so that I might have been a part of such a marvelous experience.  Biased a bit?  Perhaps, but come on, any singer with balls enough to parade downstage in a rainbow-colored headdress has got to be either cool or crazy, or both.

The Queen of Soul: the Musical

Aretha Franklin isn’t one to let an opportunity pass her by.  Following the success of musicals like “Mamma Mia” and the blockbuster success of “Dreamgirls,” Aretha is currently casting for the next big Broadway hit, “Aretha: From These Roots.”  And by casting, I mean she is personally picking the people that will portray her at various ages.  Now, I’m not sure how popular a music like this will be.  In fact, I’m fairly certain it won’t be.

I just don’t really care that much about Aretha’ life.  She has a great set of lungs, and she was great in her cameo in “The Blues Brothers.”  But she’s just not a female figure I could pay $75 bucks to learn about.  Now, Billy Holliday, Ella, even Nina Simone, these are all ladies I would be interested in a stage show about. I am thinking this is just a ploy to get back into the spotlight after years of being sidelined.  I get that I’m not showing her much “respect,” but there it is.

People Crown Drew as Top Beauty

Third times the charm for most, but it’s been four times that Drew Barrymore has been listed amongst People Magazines “100 Most Beautiful People.”  This year is different, however, because she is listed at number one.  For the spread in the magazine Drew was one of 11 celebrities photographed without makeup.  Now that I a rare look at real beauty.

Anyone who proclaims “Let your Freak-flag fly” is okay in my book.  I love that a real woman is shown for the beauty she has not only in body, but also in spirit.  Drew thinks it is more her fun-loving attitude toward life than anything else pushed her to the top of the list.  If it did, it says a lot about the editors of People.  Drew gained a lot of respect from me when she rose above it all after her marriage ended.  She seems to have grown more beautiful the older she gets.  Congratulations, Drew, you deserve it.

Spice Girls reunite

No, unfortunately not as a group. Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Mel C all attended the service at North London‘s Parish Church of St Michael, to see the 11 month old girl of their former colleague Geri Halliwell  to be christened.

The only Spice Girl missing was Mel B, who recently gave birth to a baby girl and was in Los Angeles. She also has problems with her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy who denies to be the father of the little girl and they are now going to the court. So Miss Mel B was excused for her absence.

Geri, 34 dressed in a figure-hugging pale blue dress, beamed as she proudly showed off her daughter to the 100 guests at the Highgate village church.

A source told: “It was a lovely service. Geri looked stunning. It was so good to see the Spice Girls back together and getting on so well.”

Victoria who was without her husband-David brought her sons with her, while Emma showed off her heavily-pregnant frame in a black mini dress.

After the service there was a private party for the VIP guests, believed to have taken place at Geri’s London home.

It’s great to see those girls together again and we all hope that they would return to singing one day because many people would love to hear them again.

James Brown’s Music Lives On

Posted by Sam on 25th April 2007 in Celebrities, Flash News, Music, greatest hits

James Brown might not still be with us, but his band certainly is.  And his band is planning a concert at the Apollo Theater in New York on May 3rd, the Godfather of Soul’s birthday.  “Once they get an earful, they’ll see. He’s dead but his music lives on.”  The band will be playing all of James’ greatest hits, proving that the music continues although the singer does not.

jamesbrown.jpgThe band is saying, however, that they are not trying to replace James by any one member.  You can’t do that, he’s irreplaceable.  You can have various artists perform his work, which is what they intend to do.  Venisha Brown, James’ daughter, will be just one of those artists, and evidently she dances “better than he did.”  I won’t be able to make it to New York, but hopefully they will have this filmed so that those of us who watch “Evening at the Apollo” won’t miss out.

Lindsay Lohan rejecting projects

The actress didn’t appear on the set of her new movie “The Best Times of Our Lives” this week. In it she has to take part in steamy ménage trios with Keira Knightley.

Lindsay is said to be unhappy with the contract she has signed.

A source told: “She didn’t back out and the producers didn’t pull the deal, but there were changes that weren’t to her liking, and that was that.”

The actress recently spent some time in a rehab in Los Angeles for her alcohol addiction and now she is attending Anonymous Alcoholics meetings. In an interview before she told that she would be thrilled to play in the movie and now she resign, really strange don’t you think?

In the epic, written by Keira’s mother Sharman Macdonald Lidnsay is supposed to play Caitlin – the wife of late legendary Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Keira on the other hand is set to play Vera- a childhood friend of Dylan who is said to have had a sexual relationship with him and Caitlin.

At the same time there are numerous rumors for Lindsay having an affair with the female DJ Samantha Ronson.

Maybe that’s the reason Lindsay had changed her decision about this movie, because if she accepts the part in some way she may confirm the rumors about her.

Beyonce and Des’ree Duke it Out

beyonce-knowles-2.jpg

Tsk, tsk, Beyonce. You should have known that you need to have permission to use someone else’s music. At least, someone who works for you should have known. Beyonce will soon be sued by English pop artist Des’ree for using her song “I’m Kissing You” without the rights to do so. It’s a standard thing to buy rights or at least to borrow them when you record someone else’s music. It ends up being a cover, and we all love covers.

Now if you don’t know who Des’ree is, don’t be surprised. She was a 1990’s pop singer, known for songs we barely heard on this side of the water. I figure this is more of a publicity stunt than anything, although she seems set on keeping Beyonce from distributing either her album “bday” or the video to “I’m Kissing You.” Seems like a musical cat fight to me. Anyone have the mud?

Mario releasing a new album

Posted by Sam on 23rd April 2007 in Music, New CD DVD, Songs

mario.jpgAfter three years in which we haven’t heard of him he is now coming with a new record better than ever. The album is expected to be released on 31 July.

“You got different types of artists – timeless artist, artists that look good right now, some that look good later and others that only look good on videos but don’t sell records. I am one of the artists that fortunately sells records”- says the 20-year old singer.

For his new project he has worked with some of the best in the business- Timbaland, Akon, Pharell, Polow Da Don, Big Reese, Jasper and Stargate. The songs in his new album are said to be something new we haven’t heard before. Maybe the singer is now grown up and knows better how to influence the public.

The first single from the album is “How Do I Breathe”. The Polow Da Don produced “Crying Out For Me” written by Jasper is expected to be the second single. “The track really feels like a late ‘80s and ‘90s record”- Mario says in an interview.

The singer is going to make a tour in the summer for his fans and dates will be announced pretty soon.

What’s the Best Damn Thing About Avril Lavigne?

Posted by Sam on 21st April 2007 in Avril Lavigne, Celebrities, Music, Rock, Singers

avril-lavigne-275.jpgI’ve got a secret to confess. For a long while now I have secretly liked Avril Lavigne despite my hatred of pop music. I hate pop music because, for the most part, there is little music actually in it. It’s just a string of bleeps and sexual innuendo strung together and forced down the throat of the American public. Not so with Avril. She writes at least a portion of her songs. Her music lays right on the edge of pop and alternative, and its just plain fun to sing at karaoke.

With her new album coming out entitled “Best Damn Thing” I ended up asking myself what exactly is the best thing about Avril. I know I have my opinion, but I’d be interested to hear your opinion. What do you think is the Best Damn Thing about Avril Lavigne. And yes, you lose points if you say her ass.

Monkeys living in a tent

Posted by Sam on 20th April 2007 in Celebrities, Concerts Tour, Live Music, Music, Music Bands, Rock

monkeys.jpgThe group is planning to stay in a wigwam at this year’s Glastonbury’s festival. They will take part this summer in the festival and said that they prefer to stay in a Cherokee tent than sleep in a big luxury hotel. The group told the reporters they would prefer to do their concert from the wigwam they are planning to stay.

The band revealed they would be very pleased to work with their colleague Amy Winehouse and really want to perform with her this year.

“We here she is going to be playing at the same concert in Manchester. It would be great to perform live together.”

Monkeys appear to be one of the few groups that doesn’t have so big requirements when it comes to accommodation and preferences where to stay before concert or when on tour. Imagine what it would be if all the performers camped with the audience during the festival…

Carrie Owns the CMTs

Posted by Sam on 19th April 2007 in Celebrities, Music

carrieunderwood-r2.jpgA handful of American Idol contestants can really claim to have made it big. Carrie Underwood is definitely one of those contestants. Tonight’s Country Music Television Awards honored Carrie not once or twice, but three times. She took home awards for video of the year, female video and best video director. All the awards were given for her weirdly popular song “Before He Cheats.” Now,
I’m not a country music lover or anything, but any song that includes a
girl whacking things with a baseball bat is okay by me.

Curious? Yeah I was too. Here’s the video on You Tube. Its lots of fun. This is definitely not the girl that you want to cross, especially if you care anything about your car. With all my issues with American Idol, it’s nice to see actual talent get noticed. If only more singers got a break the w

Dave Chappelle and the Little Set that Could

losdavechappelle.jpg

Who says no one has any lasting power in show business? You can’t say that about Dave Chappelle, certainly not after his gig at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles. He was on stage for no less that six hours and seven minutes. That’s a LOT of jokes, kids, and I’m sure most of them I couldn’t repeat for the younger readers out there. The previous endurance record had stood at four hours, held by a guy named Dan Cook. Yeah, I don’t know he either. Before him Richard Prior set the record at over two hours in 1980.Can you imagine what it must have been like to be in the audience? I wonder, did he give himself time to pee or did he stand there crossing his legs until he could make them laugh no more? My hat is totally off to the guy. I’ve know Chapelle was an innovator, but it says something about the man’s dedication to his craft that he was able to have material enough for such a marathon set, let alone be able to pull it off. I really hope they recorded it, and that it will be on a DVD shelf near me soon.

Beatles’ Ballads to the Highest Bidder

Posted by Sam on 16th April 2007 in Flash News, Lyrics, Music

julianlennon.jpg

Julian Lennon is selling out, selling out his father’s song lyrics to be specific.
A financial stake in some of John Lennon’s compositions has been sold
off to Primary Wave Music Publishing. Little Julian who is John’s oldest son
and a songwriter himself, says he’s doing it to further his own career. Well, duh.
On the one hand the sale will make him some serious cash. On the other hand, Julian is getting all
sorts of publicity from forking over the priceless works of his father. In other words, he gets money and fame, and
he doesn’t have to do a single thing.

I am less irritated at the prospect of the
sale then I am at his smugness. Maybe
the sale will mean the public will have access to more of Lennon’s songs, and
that is a great thing. Art is meant to
be experienced, and songs do us no good sitting in a vault no matter how
valuable they are. But the flagrant way
he is using his father’s work to push himself is horrible. It’s like he’s admitted he has no talent and
so he must sell the work of a genius in order to get ahead. And thus he has smarmed his way onto my
“People I’d Like to See Sitting in a Pool Full of Snails” list. Enjoy the honor, Julian. Only the truly selfish will be there with
you.

Bidding Bonaduce Goodbye

Posted by Sam on 11th April 2007 in Celebrities, Flash News

Say it ain’t so Gretchen!  We love you, and more importantly Danny loves you.  I know, I listen to his radio show and hear him gush over you constantly.  But evidently the gushing or eternal devotion isn’t enough, because Mrs. Bonaduce is filing for divorce.  This is wrong, all kinds of wrong.  Maybe if I chant hard enough she’ll hear me over the airwaves.  Think of the marriage!  Think of the children!  Think of the man! Oh this just breaks my heart.

My rant aside, everyone has their reasons for divorce, and I’m sure it’s tough to be the divorcer when so many people love your husband.  There are two sides to every story, and we’ll just have to see how this plays out. Let’s hope that Gretchen decides to work through this rather than just up and leave, otherwise this might be the real breaking of Bonaduce.bonaduce.jpg

Kirsten Dunst and her statement that Marihuana is healthy.

Posted by Sam on 9th April 2007 in Celebrities, Flash News

kirsten-dunst-posters.jpg

I read yesterday an interview with Kirsten Dunst where she said that she smokes a cigarette or two when she
is at home and this helps her to relax. For her, smoking of marihuana is healthy.

But I don’t think like this. She is an actress and what she does is being imitated by teens and I don’t think it
will be healthy for them to smoke marihuana just to calm down and not to think
for their problems for a while. This is not an answer for their problems.

It’s not right people who are famous and have some power over other people with their acting, singing or with
their actions to express their opinion on such theme like marihuana because for me marihuana is a drug and it should be
illegal to use.

DiCaprio Joins CIA

Leonardo DiCaprio adds Ridley Scott to the list of top directors who want to work with him.Spielberg has worked with Leonardo DiCaprio, and Martin Scorsese has done so twice. Now Ridley Scott wants him. Daily Variety reports DiCaprio is in talks to star in Body of Lies for Warner Bros., a film adaptation of David Ignatius’ new novel. Oscar winning screenwriter William Monahan, this year’s Adapted Screenplay winner for The Departed, is adapting the novel.

All the details haven’t been worked out, but DiCaprio looks like a lock; he’s already reportedly put the project on his busy schedule. He’s set to shoot the film this fall after he wraps Revolutionary Road, the drama that will reunite him with Kate Winslet, his co star from Titanic.

In Body of Lies, DiCaprio will play an ex journalist turned CIA agent investigating a possible Al Qaeda leader planning a new attack on the US. Ridley Scott is already in Morocco, scouting locations that will stand in for Amman, Jordan. Other locations will include Washington DC and sites in Europe and elsewhere in the Middle East. leoalexand.jpg
