Miley Cyrus is Number 1

Posted by Sam on 30th July 2008 in Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Records Sale, Top Music Chart

She better enjoy all the glory while she’s on top because her days as the new sensation are numbered. I doubt she’s going to have staying power but as of right now, Miley Cyrus has the #1 album in America. The Disney skank’s new record ‘Breakout’ sold 371,000 copies this past week which makes it the second biggest debut by a female artist this year. She only came in behind Mariah Carey’s first week sales of 463,000 for ‘E=MC2’ in April. Congratulations go out to Miley. I hope you don’t blow it all on a new camera to take even more skanky pictures of yourself.

Mariah’s Weekend

Posted by Sam on 29th July 2008 in Flash News, Mariah Carey, Singers

What was Mariah Carey up to this past weekend? The curvaceous diva kicked it with her hubby Nick Carey, I mean Cannon, at the Aura nightclub in the Bahamas. Nick was hired to DJ at the club which was located in the Atlantis resort. Who knew that he can still book gigs? Even if it’s just to be a DJ, that’s still more than what he really does. I bet Mariah was really happy that her young hubby is making some money of his own to treat himself with instead of just mooching off of her the whole time. His money is his money and her money is their money.

Smashing Pumpkins Lawsuit

Posted by Sam on 27th July 2008 in Record Label, Ringtone, Smashing Pumpkins, Songs Download

Two members of The Smashing Pumpkins are involved in a lawsuit against Virgin Records America. James Yoshinobu Iha and D’Arcy Wretzky-Brown are claiming that the label has screwed them out of ringtone fees and other stuff. They say that back in 2005, five years after the band broke up, Virgin negotiated a deal solely with front man Billy Corgan for the electronic transmissions (ringtones, downloads, computer files and whatever else), without ever getting their consent. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages in the suit filed in LA County Superior Court. Why does it take some people a lot of time before filing suit? You would think that a year without getting royalties would have made them do something already.

Avril Lavigne Hits a New Low

Posted by Sam on 24th July 2008 in Avril Lavigne, Chris Daughtry, Concerts Tour, Jonas Brothers

Most people hardly care to see her headlining tour so Avril Lavigne is set to get second billing to Chris Daughtry at Tom’s River Fest next month. If that wasn’t humiliatingenough, the Canadian singer is also opening for the Jonas Brothers on a couple of dates on their current US tour. Sure she’s not going to be the center of attention but at least there are actually people going to be there to watch her perform instead of having a half-empty arena. It’s going to be a big improvement for her. She may not like it but she has to take it on to actually earn some money.

Death Row Lawsuit

Posted by Sam on 20th July 2008 in Flash News, Record Label

death-row-records.jpg

A guy is suing Death Row Records and he’s going after them for more money than what people thought it was worth. The label was bought at an auction last month for $24 million. Ron Goldberg claims in a lawsuit that he got Susan Berg and Reggie Bush to buy Death Row but that he’s now on the outside looking in. He wants $25 million from Berg, Bush and the former president of his company, Global Music Group. A lawyer for Global Music Group says “Mr. Goldberg is not a principal of Global Music Group Inc., a New York corporation, nor does he have any ownership in that company or in its assets, including the Death Row assets subject to the company’s court-approved bid.” That means, he’s worth nothing.

3 Doors Down hit single called “It’s Not My Time,”

Posted by Sam on 18th July 2008 in 3 Doors Down

Acclaimed Universal Republic rock band 3 Doors Down continue to ride high and fast with their hit single called “It’s Not My Time,” with the Mississippi/Nashville fivesome grabbing Major League Baseball’s ‘prime time’ spotlight on Monday, July 14, at legendary Yankee Stadium for the coveted opening slot to MLB’s 2008 State Farm Home Run Derby. The 21st installment of All-Star’s popular Long-ball Fest is the centerpiece of MLB’s All-Star festivities surrounding the 79th MLB All-Star game, which was played at Yankee Stadium the following evening, Tuesday, July 15.

The 2008 State Farm Home Run Derby and one song from their special performance by 3 Doors Down will be broadcast live by ESPN. Currently celebrating their 11th year of live State Farm Home Run Derby coverage, the event is traditionally one of the network’s highest-rated summer programs. ESPN also recently used new music from the band as a complement to its productions throughout the month of June.

3 Doors Down will treat a sold-out Yankee Stadium audience and millions of ESPN fans to 2 songs prior to the slugging contest, including their current hit “Its’ Not My Time” from their recently crowned gold-plus fourth self –titled album 3 Doors Down. They will also perform their first smash single “Kryptonite” for the capacity crowd at the stadium. The myriad of All-Star events taking place from July 11-15, including the 3 Doors Down show are part of a long list of tributes to the farewell season of fabled Yankee Stadium, which will be torn down at the end of the 2008 season and replaced by a new venue next door. “We’re particularly thrilled to play at such a great event,” stated 3 Doors Down frontman Brad Arnold. “To be able to also tip our hats and say thanks to Yankee Stadium is an additional honor. Home Run Derby is always one of the most fun sporting events to watch, and to be able to perform for the fans who will be savoring every moment will be a real treasured moment for all of us.”

The band will also be launching their much anticipated summer tour – 3 Doors Down’s Summer Tour with Staind and Hinder Presented by Wrigley’s Extra Fruit Sensations – is scheduled to kick off on July 9 in Maryland Heights, MO. The band will be performing a slew of new songs on the 20 city trek culled from their recently released smash album 3 Doors Down. The CD topped the Billboard Top album chart and the coveted iTunes Album chart during its opening week in late May, and has gone on to become one of the most consistent rock bestsellers of 2008. The new album has also snagged rave reviews, with the Associated Press affirming that ‘3 Doors Down has offered the strongest collection of their career’ and Billboard Magazine stating ‘a landmark album in an already platinum career.’ The band is currently readying their second single from the album, “Train.”

MTV is ALL OVER Tokio Hotel

Posted by Sam on 17th July 2008 in MTV, TOKIO HOTEL, TRL, Tour Dates

MTV is ALL OVER Tokio Hotel. The band’s last Times Square takeover was so successful that they have been invited back to spend an entire week on TRL. Check out what MTV has to say about Tokio Hotel below.
“Just another reason why we should petition the U.S. government (they’re not busy, right?) to officially change “August” to “Tokio Hotel Month”; Bill, Gustav, Tom, and Georg — collectively known as Tokio Hotel, and usually referred to between breathless gasps of OH MEIN GOTT! — are bringing their cat eyes, impressive biceps, copious dreadlocks and brooding stares back to TRL for an entire week, beginning August 4.
Mark your calendars, phone a friend, and/or tattoo it on some inconspicuous part of your face before Tokio Hotel melts it off: Tokio Hotel, live and in the flesh, will be on TRL all week beginning Monday, August 4th.
+ Plus: get Tokio Hotel’s just-announced August 2008 tour dates, watch their TRL performance, behind-the-scenes footage from their last trip to TRL, exclusive MTV interview, check out their MTV photo shoot, and their tour diaries. (We’re kind of obsessed too, if you couldn’t tell.)”

Introducing Irish Rocker Lesley Roy

Posted by Sam on 8th July 2008 in Lesley Roy, Lyrics, Rocker, Singers

lesley-roy.jpg

Meet Lesley Roy – a 21 year old singer/ songwriter/ guitarist hailing from Balbriggan, Ireland. The Irish rocker discovered her passion for music at a young age, learning to play trumpet, saxophone and guitar all by age ten. Further inspired by her mother’s musical background, she began writing songs at fourteen and was well on the way to developing her advanced songwriting abilities.

Roy left the small suburb of Dublin after getting discovered by Jive Records and headed to New York City to begin crafting her album. She worked with plenty of industry heavyweights on the debut effort including Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Sugababes) and Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith). Her first single, “I’m Gone, I’m Going” was produced by Max Martin (Britney Spears, NSYNC) who also exec produced the album. With an array of supercharged guitar hooks and irresistible vocal melodies, “I’m Gone, I’m Going” will appeal to fans of Paramore, Kelly Clarkson, and more.

About her debut album, Roy says, “there are a couple of themes that run through the album, evolving around the many different aspects in relationships, whether it is loss of love, not wanting to be in love, trying to help a friend through their own issues…unrequited love and the happiness and excitement of being in love.” The self-proclaimed shy girl who sites Melissa Etheridge and U2 among her influences strives to connect with her fans through her painfully honest lyrics and cannot wait to rock out with her new material on stage.
