Britney Spears Song Curfew

Posted by Sam on 30th January 2009 in Billboard, Britney Spears

The right wingers at the Parents Television Council are fussing about Britney Spears’ song ‘If U Seek
Amy’, which, as you know, spells out some dirty words when said quickly aloud. The PTC is warning radio stations to quit giving the song airplay as it “violates the broadcast indecency law” if played between 6AM and 10PM. PTC president Tim Winter said “There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it’s certainly not about a girl named Amy.” However, the song has already hit the airwaves and is at the number 92 spot on the Billboard Pop 100 with a cleaner version that replaces the word ‘seek’ with ‘see’.

Jonas Brothers Get 3D and Release New Video

Posted by Sam on 29th January 2009 in Jonas Brothers, Music Video

Jonas Brothers are set to release the Soundtrack to their new movie, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” on February 24th, three days before the film is slated to hit 3D theaters across the nation. The soundtrack includes old favorites like “Hold On” and “S.O.S” as well as live performances with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, a Shania Twain cover, and one new, never-before-heard studio recording called “Love Is On Its Way.” The highly anticipated film goes behind-the-scenes with Kevin, Joe and Nick on last year’s Burning Up Tour, following their every move along the way. Check out the recently released video for “Tonight,” the first single from the Soundtrack, featuring great live footage from the movie.

2008 was a record breaking year for Jonas Brothers where they took home six Teen Choice Awards, starred in Camp Rock, went platinum with their #1 debuting “A Little Bit Longer,” released “Burnin’ Up,” and became the youngest group to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. The New Year has already proven to be a continuation of their hot streak with a performance at the Kids’ Inaugural Concert in D.C. and an upcoming performance on the Grammys where they are nominated for Best New Artist.

Chris Cornell Talks Guitars and Preps Kimmel Performance

Posted by Sam on 27th January 2009 in Album Release, Chris Cornell, Timbaland

Chris Cornell’s long-awaited Timbaland produced album, Scream, is reaching stores on 3/10.  Chris has been keeping busy rehearsing with his new band and talking with his fans on his blog to gear up for the release.  The front man hasn’t picked up an electric guitar since the break-up of his legendary group Soundgarden back in the late 90’s, but according to his latest blog entry on ChrisCornell.com, he’s thinking of busting them out for his upcoming tour:

“Hi people. Here is an open question. Since I got my guitars back I have been considering playing guitar live again. Who thinks I should pick it up again? I play guitar all day every day as I am always working on new songs. Let me know if you think I should hit it live. The king is dead. God save the king.”

Chris Cornell will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel live tonight, Friday, January 23rd – and free tickets are up for grabs. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, come along and see his outdoor mini-concert – tickets and all other details are available HERE. It’s a great chance to catch Chris and his band live before they head out to Europe for four exclusive shows next month.

Scream hits stores on March 10

Lily Allen Talks Talent

Posted by Sam on 26th January 2009 in Lily Allen

In a recent interview, Lily Allen is once again making some interesting comments. This time she comments on her own talent instead of bashing others. I really think she’s crazy because she decided to bash hers. She said “I’m really convinced I’m not talented at all, and I’m sure that people are just about to figure that out.” I’m not saying that she’s not right though. I already figured that out the minute she decided to go through with her own talk show. It doesn’t matter if she had a few good songs. If she can’t follow them up, then it’s not use. She’ll just be another flash in the pan.

Josh Groban for Obama

Posted by Sam on 26th January 2009 in Barack Obama, Josh Groban

Josh Groban performed with Herbie Hancock on a duet of Paul Simon’s ‘America’ during a rally for Feeding America at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in Washington DC last Monday. Martin Luther King III, Ben Affleck and David Arquette were just some of the celebrities who were present to support the cause. The 27-year old Josh also opened the ‘We Are One’ concert with a stirring rendition of ‘My Country Tis of Thee’. I hope that the camaraderie that was shown during the events of the past week don’t just stop there. There’s much more that can be done with a united front.

Mariah Carey apparently left the Inauguration Ball

Posted by Sam on 23rd January 2009 in Barack Obama, Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey apparently furiously left the Inauguration Ball on Tuesday night when she found out that she would not be sitting at the same table with the Barack Obama family, but that she would be sitting at the VIP lounge with other celebrities… whom she probably considered to be the commoners. A source said: “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Barack Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.” Of course she left, Mariah Carey is too good to sit at the same table with Alicia Keys or Jon Bon Jovi.

The French Give and Take from Katy Perry

Posted by Sam on 23rd January 2009 in Katy Perry, Rihanna

Last weekend, Katy Perry was called to the stage of France’s NRJ Music Awards to receive the International Song of the Year award for her worldwide hit ‘I Kissed a Girl’. However, by the end of the show, the host announced that there had been a mistake in vote-counting and that Katy didn’t really win. Rihanna was the real winner for ‘Disturbia’. The awards were apparently based on results of audience votes on NRJ’s website in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. Katy did win International Album of the Year though. Maybe there was just a mistake in the printing of the winner’s envelopes.

Few things are more exciting than watching Bush finally release America as his eight year hostage, but if anything could rival that news, it’s this: We are more than pleased to announce that we will have the honor of touring the US & Canada with punk rock legends RANCID this summer. If Tim Armstrong didn’t confirm it personally backstage in LA a few weeks ago, we wouldn’t believe it either.

Highly Anticipated New Studio Album to be Released March 10
Following First Single, “What’s Right Is Right,” digitally on January 27

Platinum-selling singer/songwriter Taylor Hicks will thrill longtime fans, and inspire new audiences, with the release of his anticipated new studio album, The Distance, on March 10. The album will be released on Hicks’ Modern Whomp Records label and distributed through a partnership with independent artist services company Artist To Market (A2M). Debuting January 27 digitally is the first single “What’s Right Is Right,” a mid-tempo song about love and commitment, driven by funky keyboards and sax work.

Produced by Simon Climie (Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Faith Hill), and tapping the talents of guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, bassist Nathan East and drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., The Distance includes eleven tracks, some co-written by Hicks: “Wedding Day Blues,” “Seven Mile Breakdown,” “What’s Right is Right,” “Hide Nor Hair,” “Woman Gotta Have It,” “New Found Freedom,” “The Distance,” “Nineteen,” “I Live on a Battlefield,” “Yes We Can,” “Maybe You Should,” “Once Upon a Lover of Mine,” “Keepin It Real” and “Indiscriminate Act of Kindness.”
