American Idol Contestant Over the Moon

Posted by Sam on 20th January 2009 in American Idol

The American Idol contestant that was willing to sell out her band mates in order to go to Hollywood has apparently gotten a lot of practice putting her ass on the line. Emily Wynne-Hughes, who happens to be in the popular LA band Go Betty Go and who sang Heart’s ‘Barracuda’ in last week’s season premiere of the talent show is clearly not shy about showing her bare behind. No one ever said that class was a qualification for the show. Just ask the bikini girl who is bound to give Shauna Sand a run for her money. Class is definitely not a requirement.

Jermaine Dupri Talks Firings

Posted by Sam on 19th January 2009 in Record Label

Jermaine Dupri has suddenly left his position as President of Island Records Urban Music last week. There were no explanations given for his departure and there was uncertainty whether he quit or was fired. In a recent interview with Essence, Jermaine has set the record straight about what really happened. He said “It was a situation where it felt very stagnant to me. As a person who is used to putting out new records and continuing to do that, it just wasn’t turning over as being that place to me where I should stick to it and see if it was going to turn around.” He also said to not believe anything Def Jam says adding “Island [Def Jam Records] is going to say what makes them look good. They are not going to tell the truth. I haven’t spoken to L.A. [Reid] in three months. I don’t know if it’s amicable [considering] that they claim they put me out. I feel like it’s not amicable. Don’t lie, be real about the situation.”

Lady Gaga Street Wear

Posted by Sam on 16th January 2009 in Concerts Tour, Lady GaGa, Pussycat Dolls

If this is her idea of casual wear, I’m sort of afraid to find out what she just lounges in when she decides to just veg out. Lady Gaga was spotted in London on Monday night dressed in a leotard and neon green biking bottoms. You just have to love her sense of style and bravado. The ‘Just Dance’ singer apparently had a craving for some fish and chips as she picked up some food to go dressed like that on her way to a studio. The singer is currently rehearsing for her upcoming European tour where she will be the opening act for the Pussycat Dolls. Come March, she will be embarking on her first solo North American tour.

Kelly Clarkson Premiere

Posted by Sam on 16th January 2009 in American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, New Single

Kelly Clarkson’s single ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ just aired on Z100. The highly anticipated world premiere of the original American Idol has finally gone down! Woohoo! It’s not as great as the creative genius that is ‘Since U Been Gone’ but it’s leagues better than the songs from her last album ‘My December’. That’s good enough for me. On Wednesday morning, Kelly went live with the morning show chatting about her single and her taking part in Z100’s Party Plane to the Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas. Kelly’s upcoming album ‘All I Ever Wanted’ will be available on March 17th, Tuesday.

Kanye and His Shoes

Posted by Sam on 15th January 2009 in Fashion, Kanye West

Kanye West has just previewed one pair of loafer/sneaker designs that he did for his shoe line under Louis Vuitton. The musician wrote on his blog saying “Time to crash your Internet server. Here’s 1 one of the design’s [sic] I did for Louie [sic]… Sampled in white. Can’t say too much of that though. These [aren’t] coming out until June.” It looks pretty plain and boring to me. If you cared to know about it though, his shoe line is called ‘Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Shoes’. How completely uncreative for the usually very so-called artsy guy. I wouldn’t waste money on that.

Carrie Underwood is a Fave

Posted by Sam on 14th January 2009 in American Idol, Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood opened the 2009 Annual People’s Choice Awards held last week by singing ‘I Know You Won’t’. The 25-year old singer wore 3 different dresses throughout the whole ceremony – 1 for the red carpet, 1 for her performance and 1 for after her performance. The American Idol alum walked away with 3 awards – Favorite County Song for ‘Last Name’, Favorite Star Under 35 and Favorite Female Singer. It doesn’t take numerous awards for us to know that Carrie is a favorite. The fact that her career is still going strong when others who have been on AI with her are falling so far behind is enough testament to that. Number 1 singles and albums also help.

Jermaine Dupri is Out

Posted by Sam on 14th January 2009 in Record Label

Did he get fired or did he quit? Whichever way you look at it, Jermaine Dupri is out of a job. According to new reports, Jermaine is no longer the President of Island Records Urban Music. A formal announcement is supposedly set to be released some time this week. Jermaine has been president of the label for almost 2 years. He was responsible for the labels urban music operations and his “duties also included providing production for the Music Group’s entire roster.” Last April, Island/Def Jam even created TAG Records, a joint venture with Procter & Gamble’s TAG brand that was overseen by Jermaine. It looks like things have gone south after that. I wonder what happened?

Hana Pestle’s Need For New Moon

Posted by Sam on 13th January 2009 in Album Release, Audio Stream

Hana Pestle is a self-proclaimed Twilight fanatic. The nineteen year old singer/songwriter from Billings, Montana believes she has the perfect song for the next movie and has started a movement to get “Need” in the forthcoming New Moon. The hauntingly beautiful track was one of her first compositions written at only fifteen years old in 2004. It was produced /co-written for her album by Ben Moody (co-founder of Evanescence) and Michael “Fish” Herring with string arrangements by David Campbell and piano performance by David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry). Check out the “Need for New Moon” page to learn more about the mission and watch a personal video message from Hana.

Hana’s E.P. is available now and her debut, full-length album is due out in July.

Fantasia is Broke

Posted by Sam on 12th January 2009 in American Idol

Fantasia Barrino is facing some serious money issues. The former American Idol winner’s North Carolina home has been seized and will be going up for sale at auction soon – as early as this Monday! As for Fantasia, she’s apparently ignoring the legal threat. It all started back in 2006 when she got a loan to pay back taxes to the IRS. The following year, she paid back part of the loan but never paid the rest. The company then won the right in court last month to auction of her house for the balance. Over the past year, Fantasia hasn’t responded to any court documents and no lawyer ever appeared in court to represent her.

Lily Allen Talks Drugs

Posted by Sam on 12th January 2009 in Drugs, Lily Allen

Lily Allen is one big fat idiot. The British singer is running her mouth once again, talking about drugs saying “The only story is that drugs are bad and they will kill you – you will become a prostitute, a rapist or a dealer. But that’s not true. I know lots of people who take cocaine three nights a week and get up and go to work. But we never hear that side of the story. I wish people wouldn’t sensationalise it. Some people are just bad at taking drugs.” Lily admitted that drugs teach lessons saying “I felt like a lonely child, when everybody else was doing it and I wasn’t. That’s why I took cocaine when I didn’t even like it.” She also adds that she doesn’t like the lessons of Christianity against drugs, gays and adultery. Like I said, idiot.

Kelly Clarkson’s New Album

Posted by Sam on 12th January 2009 in Album Release, American Idol, Kelly Clarkson

First we get the single, then we get the album. ‘Masquerade’ is said to be the name for Kelly Clarkson’s upcoming fourth studio album which is due out on March 17. On New Year’s the first ever American Idol champ released the heart lollipop cover for her new single off of the album ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’. The song is set to be released to radio on Monday, January 19. I wonder what the cover art for her album would be like. The single cover and her cover art for her last album ‘My December’ are such stark contrasts that I just don’t know what to expect anymore.

Dr. Dre’s Son’s Cause of Death

Posted by Sam on 9th January 2009 in Dr. Dre

Back in August, it was reported that Dr. Dre’s 20-year old son, Andre Young Jr., died from unknown causes. The exact cause of death was only recently revealed last week by the Los Angeles County’s Coroner. A department spokesman officially released a statement saying “This case has been closed, it’s been ruled an accident due to morphine and heroin intoxication.” It’s a sad thought to have that be the cause of his death but at the very least, we can all hope that the rapper and the rest of the family can now move on with the knowledge of what really happened to his son.

The Rejects Cover Womanizer

Posted by Sam on 8th January 2009 in All-American Rejects, Britney Spears, Music Video

The All-American Rejects, hot off their December release of When The World Comes Down, have taken their time in the Yahoo! Music studio to bring a stripped down version of Britney Spears’ hit “Womanizer” to life. Packed with an accordion, clanking beer bottles, and a unison of “whooooos” the cover is described by frontman Tyson Ritter as “better than Britney” and can be seen at Yahoo! Music.
