Jimmy Chamberlin on why he quit Smashing Pumpkins

Posted by Sam on 31st March 2009 in Music Bands, Smashing Pumpkins

Jimmy Chamberlin who till last week was the drummer of rock band Smashing Pumpkins
Has opened up on the reason why he abruptly quit the band and how the whole thing has affected his terms with frontman Billy Corgan.

In a blog post which Jimmy has address to his fans he has written: “I can no longer commit all of my energy into something that I don’t fully possess. I won’t pretend I’m into something I’m not. I won’t do it to myself, you the fan, or my former partner. I can’t just, ‘Cash the check’ so to speak.”

Go on Jimmy there is nothing that can stop a creative person from creating his own destiny since when has brotherhood been the bottom line for working together. We all believe that till its worth doing something we do it and there after just dump it cos’ we’ve outgrown ourselves so immensely that others become unsightable.

Mr. Mariah Carey Kisses Up

Posted by Sam on 30th March 2009 in Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon

Mariah Carey’s husband, Nick Cannon, recently spoke to TV’s Extra talking about whether he was going to appear on any of his wife’s upcoming records. The young husband said “I am not worthy of being on a Mariah Carey record. I can’t even step into the studio with that woman. She is incredible.” He has to say that because he’s married to her. If he says good things, I bet he gets some great rewards. Like a new car maybe. I wonder what he really thinks of his wife’s singing. Moreover, I wonder what Mariah thinks of his being out of a job.

Green Day Returns

Posted by Sam on 30th March 2009 in Album Release, Green Day

Five years after their commercially and critically successful release, ‘American Idiot’, Green Day has announced that they will be coming out with their 8th studio album on May 15th. But if you can’t wait that long, the first single off of ‘21st Century Breakdwon’, ‘Know Your Enemy’, will be available sometime in April. According to an Entertainment Weekly sneak peek, the new album doesn’t deviate much from the established style in ‘American Idiot’. The album is also divided into three acts, namely ‘Heroes and Cons’, ‘Charlatans and Saints’, and ‘Horseshoes and Handgrenades’. They should go on tour for this album. Better yet, they should go on tour with No Doubt!

Mark Ronson to help save Amy Winehouse’s career

Posted by Sam on 27th March 2009 in Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson

The celebrated producer has offered to save Amy Winehouse’s career after she apparently failed to impress her record label with her new material. A source close to Mark Ronson said this about the producer’s decision: “Mark does not have fond memories of collaborating with Amy last year. He said he wouldn’t work with her again until she had her drug problems under control. He thinks she’s better now so has agreed to come on board and do a little work with her on the songs. Mark’s happy to give Amy the help she requires. They gelled while recording ‘Back To Black’ and he’s hopeful some of that magic could return.” Since when did Amy Winehouse’s career need saving? And moreover, how can Mark Ronson succeed where the artist failed. It can’t be the fact that the producer’s name supposedly just zaps up value out of thin air, now can it?

Chris Martin’s undeserved success

Posted by Sam on 27th March 2009 in Chris Martin, Coldplay

The “Coldplay” front man thinks that his band doesn’t deserve the success they have and they still have to prove themselves. Chris Martin said: “Every day I wake up and think, ‘OK, today we’ve got to really prove ourselves. We’ve got to justify where we are.’ I always feel like my dad’s going to burst through my bedroom door at any moment and wake me up to go back to my real job.” Considering that Chris Martin recently fulfilled one of his father’s dreams, the situation is most likely the other way around and it is Chris Martin who will have to do the waking-up. Still, it is probably better to see that Coldplay maintain their piousness and don’t get affected by that most dreadful disease which we may refer to as the “U2” syndrome… or perhaps the old “Oasis” plague that seems to ravage in some places.

American Idol Does Motown

Very few people were stellar during last week’s showing of American Idol doing country but what do you think about this week being about Motown? Kris Allen sang ‘How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)’. Scott MacIntyre sang ‘You Can’t Hurry Love’. Megan Joy sang ‘For Once in My Life’. Anoop Desai sang ‘Ooh Baby Baby’. Kate Voegele Premieres New Song on One Tree Hill

Posted by Sam on 25th March 2009 in Kate Voegele, YouTube

Check out the new song by Kate Voegele, “Manhattan From The Sky” The track was featured on last night’s episode of One Tree Hill and is one of the several shiny new gems featured on her upcoming release, A Fine Mess, due out in May. Kate Voegele, who plays the spunky Mia on the popular teen drama, calls the placement of “Manhattan From The Sky” “the most amazing set-up ever.” “The coolest thing is how they worked the song into the show so that it enhanced the scene, and how the scene enhanced the song.”
She says the idea for the piano-driven pop number came to her while sitting in a plane, 30,000 feet above New York City. “I was just thinking about how Manhattan looks like a little piece of Lego,” Kate Voegele recalls, “but once you’re inside, it’s totally crazy and messy and there’s a wonderful chaos going on all around the city.”
In case you missed the episode last night, check out a montage piece of the show featuring footage of her character Mia’s budding romance with Chase set to the music of “Manhattan From The Sky.” Kate Voegele even took to her video blog yesterday straight from Wilmington, NC to talk about how excited she was about the song’s debut on the show. Katy Perry Comments on Style

Posted by Sam on 24th March 2009 in Katy Perry

Katy Perry has an interview in the new issue of Women’s Health where she talks about her personal style. She said “I like experimenting and I’m totally OK with ending up in the ‘worst dressed.’ It’s happened many, many times, but I’m proud of those outfits. I don’t follow trends. I’m just not into what everyone else is wearing. I have my own look, which I call ‘Lolita meets old Hollywood Glam.’ I’m a big fan of Dita Von Teese, because she does it all herself. That is her job: to look fabulous going to the grocery store. Cyndi Lauper is another favorite. She was just so out of her mind in the ’80s. It takes someone who has no limitations in style to create stuff that epic.” Kudos to her for being herself.

Ronan Keating’s thoughts on Thom Yorke

Posted by Sam on 23rd March 2009 in Boyzone, Radiohead

The Boyzone star has recently stated that he’s not very fond of the Radiohead front man, Thom Yorke. Ronan Keating said the following when asked who he would like to throw off a mountain: “Thom Yorke from Radiohead. He’s a muppet. He was rude to us one day – he was rude to my face and I don’t have much time for rudeness.” Yeah it seems like more and more people hate the guys from Radiohead and Thom Yorke isn’t called a “front man” for nothing. I wonder though if Ronan Keating is really going to go through with his plan to throw Thom Yorke off a mountain… it would probably be worth climbing Kilimanjaro again.

U2’s drummer wishes the band would dissolve

Posted by Sam on 21st March 2009 in Music Bands, U2

Larry Mullen Jr., the drummer from U2, wishes that the band would dissolve now while it’s at the height of its glory. Larry Mullen Jr. explains: “There will be a time when it’s like, ‘It’s time to go.’ I would like that to be on a high when you’re still achieving as opposed to the curve down. That’ll be sad for me. I think it’ll be a more dignified time to go.” Of course, the drummer does not rule out the possibility of occasional reunions of the whole band… you know, just to keep the flame alive and the bank accounts full: We might come back in five years’ time and may do something together for old times’ sake because we know we’ll want to. That’ll be a beautiful end to a long beautiful career. It can’t go on for ever. It just can’t.” But I don’t think Larry Mullen Jr. is right about it not lasting forever. How can U2 not last forever? They have Bono and he can do anything!

Fergie Records the End

Posted by Sam on 20th March 2009 in Fergie, will.i.am

Fergie and will.i.am were spotted arriving separately at the Record Plant Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California on Monday. The Black Eyed Peas are reuniting and working on an upcoming album called ‘The END’ which is set to come out in stores in June. Does the title of the album mean that it will be the end of the group? I mean, Fergie’s got a successful solo career, both will.i.am and Taboo have gone on to acting and apl.de.ap is a pretty successful producer and has even launched a label in the Philippines. Oh well, they’ve lost steam as a group anyway. Unless they come up with something big, maybe going their separate ways is best.

Justin Timberlake Tequila

Posted by Sam on 20th March 2009 in Justin Timberlake

Saturday Night Live regular guest, clothing designer, singer, actor, producer, writer and everything else Justin Timberlake is once again expanding his brand to the tequila business. Page Six reports that the 28-year old pop star recently toured a Mexican distillery where he was caught on video tasting different tequilas. A rep for Justin confirmed the news saying “This was one of his many meetings over the last two years in development of his tequila business.” I wonder what he’s going to call his brand of tequila. Moreover, I wonder if anyone is going to buy it once it comes out.
