Michael Jackson’s Estate to Cover Debt

Posted by Sam on 30th July 2009 in Michael Jackson

Even though Michael Jackson died with a reportedly $400 million in debt, the late King of Pop is expected to be completely cleared from his debts with the money coming from his estate. The co-executors of the singer’s estate, Michael’s former attorney John Branca and music exec John McClain, say that they are in the process of wrapping up a few deals that will “generate tens of millions of dollars of revenues” for the estate. They have even set the wheels in motion for allowances to be distributed to Michael’s three young children, as well as his mother Katherine. However, Los Angeles judge has decided to wait until the guardianship hearing on August 3 to consider the allowances.

Tori Amos Christmas Album

Posted by Sam on 29th July 2009 in Album Release

Tori Amos has dabbled in a couple of Yuletide carols but could a full length album of holiday tunes be on the way for the artist? There has been no official word from the singer or her people but Universal Republic has listed an album titled ‘Christmas’ from Tori which is set to be released on November. That’s pretty interesting. I’m itching for any of her music. I love Tori Amos period. But then again, a full album of holiday music from her doesn’t sound very appealing to me. I guess I’ll figure things out when I hear even just a bit of that Christmas music from her.

Pussycat Doll’s Kimberly Wyatt said it ‘has been hard’ that Nicole Scherzinger is the focus of the band

Posted by Sam on 27th July 2009 in Nicole Scherzinger, Pussycat Dolls

Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt has said it "has been hard" that Nicole Scherzinger is always at the focus of the band.

Kimberly, 27, and Nicole, 31, are members of the successful girl band along with Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton.

Reports recently stated that tension built in the band when their last single Jai Hoh! was billed as Pussycat Dolls featuring Nicole Scherzinger.

Kimberly said: "It’s true, there has always been a lot of focus on Nicole which has been hard to deal with sometimes. This group was created with a foundation, they knew exactly what they wanted and they had Nicole at the focus.

"Every video and stage performance that we’ve done, Nicole has been our leader. I wasn’t in videos like I wanted and wasn’t seen in the way I was hoping, which has been the same for all the other girls too."

Kimberly added that she doesn’t see the attention being split evenly between the band any time soon.

She said: "I don’t really make any of the decisions, I’m in the group and can voice my opinions to a degree but at the end of the day it is a business and there are a lot of chefs in the kitchen that run the Pussycat Dolls."

Katie Holmes shows off singing and dancing talents on US TV show

Posted by Sam on 24th July 2009 in Dance

Actress Katie Holmes showed off her singing and dancing talents – and her shapely legs – as she put on a special guest performance on a US TV show.

The wife of Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise started her routine to Get Happy in a retro white outfit but soon slipped into a slinky black number on So You Think You Can Dance.

Katie treated the audience to some high kicking action before being lifted up in the air by her dapper male dancers in her Judy Garland tribute.

She also danced on top of a piano as she mimed along to her own vocals in a show-stopping performance.

The multi-talented star put on her dancing shoes to celebrate the hit show’s 100th episode and promote her charity Dizzy Feet Foundation, which she founded with SYTYCD judge Nigel Lythgoe and two choreographers.

Before her recently-recorded performance was screened, she told host Cat Deeley: “This is sort of a homage to Judy Garland, so I’m really excited about it.

“I like to sing and I like to dance, so this has been really fun.”

She said of her charity: “It’s to give these scholarships to young kids.

“I think it’s important to let kids experience music and dancing and singing and the arts, and also sports. This is the next generation.

“I think it’s very important to give them every opportunity to grow and discover what it is they like and to have access to the best.

“I really think that’s important in allowing really talented kids to get scholarships to great places.”

Lythgoe revealed generous Katie donated her appearance fee to the charity.

Pink Cancels Tour Date

Posted by Sam on 24th July 2009 in Concert, Pink

Pink was forced to cancel her Monday night show in Brisbane, Australia as she was suffering from laryngitis. The show has since been rescheduled for July 27th and the original date’s tickets will be honored at the concert without a need to exchange them. The pop rock singer took to her Twitter account to talk a little about it saying “Had to cancel my first show in 2 years. No one feels worse than I do. Very sorry.” That’s quite ok dear. Every music fan should know how a tour schedule can take its toll on someone’s body. I just hope she gets better soon.

Posted by Sam on 22nd July 2009 in Concert, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Ne-yo, Usher

Leona Lewis has recently been tapped to perform at the Michael Jackson tribute show which is set to be held at London’s O2 Arena. The 24-year old British singer will reportedly be joined by the likes of Justin Timberlake, Usher and Ne-Yo in performances to honor the late King of Pop. The producers are even said to be talking about having a hologram of the iconic Michael projected onto the stage. A date for the tribute show has yet to be finalized but the promoters are hoping to put it on by the end of the summer. I wonder who else will be on the show and how many times it will be put on.

Jamie Lee Curtis says own drug addiction mirrors Michael Jackson’s ‘river of pain’

Posted by Sam on 21st July 2009 in Michael Jackson

Jamie Lee Curtis believes Michael Jackson’s descent into alleged drug addiction had a starting point.

Much like her own experience with surgery, Jackson had suffered such great pain from his burns accident and his abusive childhood that drugs were a haven.

“Listen, I can relate,” writes Curtis, 50, on a blog for The Huffington Post.

“I too found painkillers after a routine cosmetic surgical procedure and I too became addicted, the morphine becomes the warm bath from which to escape painful reality. I was a lucky one. I was able to see that the pain had started long ago and far away and that finding the narcotic was merely a matter of time. The pain needed numbing.

“My recovery from drug addiction is the single greatest accomplishment of my life but it takes work — hard, painful work — but the help is there, in every town and career, drug/drink freed members of society, from every single walk and talk of life to help and guide.”

She also eloquently said: “We’re being shown now, in the weeks following Mr Jackson’s death, the supposed headwaters of his river of pain, the accident with Pepsi and the literal head on fire. It is a harrowing image, flames leaping off his head seconds before others came to his rescue. The explanation is that this moment was the drug start point that eventually took over his life. I don’t believe it.

“The pain he suffered was from his birth, from his being and becoming the commodity that then made him the omnipotent King of the Pop-Goes-The-Weasel-Jacko-In-The-Neverland-Box that destroyed him.”

Michael Jackson is Top Selling Artist of 2009

Posted by Sam on 20th July 2009 in Michael Jackson, Top Music Chart

We’ve only just passed the middle of the year but it looks like Michael Jackson may posthumously become 2009’s top selling artist. Since the King of Pop’s sudden death, the singer’s record sales have skyrocketed. According to industry website Hits Daily Double, Sony Music has shipped over 8 million CDs globally since Michael died. Mind you, that count still doesn’t include downloads. Prior to Michael’s death, Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ dominated the charts. And the King is sure to live on as there will certainly be “repackaged titles, possibly some previously unreleased material and the DVDs of the concert rehearsals” to follow.

Dr Conrad Murray has fled from California, according to reports

Posted by Sam on 17th July 2009 in Drugs, Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s private doctor has reportedly fled from California following questioning from the LAPD.

Dr Conrad Murray is in Houston, Texas where he has a medical practice, TMZ claims.

According to the entertainment website, evidence is beginning to mount against Murray as LAPD detectives continue their investigation.

TMZ claims that evidence suggests that the anesthesia Propofol was the primary cause of Jackson’s death and Dr Murray is believed to be the man who administered it.

The results from Michael Jackson’s autopsy report will take longer than first expected say the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The office had previously claimed that the full report would be available this week or early next week.

But Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter revealed Thursday that results will now not be known for a further two weeks.

The toxicology report should be able to determine what drugs were in Jackson’s body when he died and if they caused his death.

Jackson died from a cardiac arrest at his home in the Holmby Hills on June 25.

Lady Gaga Makes History

Posted by Sam on 15th July 2009 in Billboard, Hit Song, Lady GaGa

Lady Gaga is making a big solid mark in music history as the singer is officially the third artist in history to have three number 1 songs from a debut album on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40. The only other artists to have accomplished this feat have been Ace of Base and Avril Lavigne. I think it would be great if Lady Gaga could surpass those artists and get four number 1 songs on the chart. And with her career going mighty nicely, I don’t think that’s a feat that’s too far off from getting achieved. I hope she does it.

Ryan Seacrest’s New Idol Deal

Posted by Sam on 15th July 2009 in American Idol, Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell

It was recently announced that American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has tripled his pay check with the reality show after he signed a new three year contract, making him exclusive to CKX for any TV work. CKX is the parent company of 19 Entertainment, which produces American Idol. If you are wondering how big triple is, it’s to the tune of a cool $15 million. If you do the math with the contract, Ryan just signed a $45 million deal! That may seem like a lot, but then again, he still isn’t making anything near what Simon Cowell rakes in. There’s still no word on the contracts of Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi or Paula Abdul though.

Reporter Wanted for Posting Videos of Rihanna Case

Posted by Sam on 14th July 2009 in Chris Brown, Rihanna

Legal documents were recently filed asking a judge to hold a reporter in the Chris Brown case in contempt of court. According to the documents, Russell Alan Wetanson runs a website that posted a video of interviews in the hallway outside the courtroom where the singer pled guilty to felony assault. Court rules prohibit that kind of taping. Wetanson, who also happens to be a lawyer, was notified by the public information officer of the court regarding the violation and the videos have since been removed from his website. However, a contempt hearing could now be set which makes it a possibility for Wetanson to be sent to jail. Why couldn’t they do that to Chris instead?

Michael Jackson tribute to be announced at London’s O2 Arena

A star-studded Michael Jackson tribute is expected to be announced at London’s O2 Arena featuring a hologram of the star, it has been claimed.

Reports claim stars including Justin Timberlake, pictured, Leona Lewis, Usher and Ne-Yo have been approached to perform at the concert by AEG Live and sing cover versions of Jacko’s tracks.

The gig will reportedly be held on August 29, on what would have been Jacko’s 51st birthday. It is claimed producers are hoping to project a hologram of the star onto the stage.

A source at AEG Live said: “There has been frantic activity both in AEG’s London and LA offices.

“It will be a celebration of Michael Jackson’s life through his music. The producers want to avoid a sombre memorial tone.”

Britney Spears seeking Australian model twins’ songs

Posted by Sam on 13th July 2009 in Uncategorized

Britney Spears is tapping into some Australian model talent – but for her songs, not her look.

Spears has been in touch with songwriting twins and models Olivia and Miriam Nervo, who are billed as an emerging international pop act.

Spears has asked the Nervo Sisters to write some new material for her following the success of their work overseas. The pair have written a song that topped the British charts last month, the catchy When Love Takes Over. The song was performed by David Guetta and former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland.

Spears considered the Nervo Sisters’ work in the past, but did not include the track she eyed

on her album. Olivia Nervo has had a local hit titled Boob Job.

Jennifer Hudson Honors Michael Jackson

Posted by Sam on 10th July 2009 in Jennifer Hudson, Michael Jackson

Despite being pregnant, Grammy and Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson attended and gave a wonderful performance of ‘Will You Be There (Hold Me)’ at the Michael Jackson public memorial service which was held at the Staples Center this past Tuesday in Los Angeles. The song was released as one of the late King of Pop’s singles in 1993. The song also appeared on the soundtrack to the movie ‘Free Willy’. Michael’s music proves to be timeless and I can only hope that his music will live on and forever be remembered. I actually feel sorry for future generations for not getting the chance to see the master do his thing. Rest in peace.

Panic at the Disco Releases Second Statement

Posted by Sam on 10th July 2009 in Music, Music Artist, Music Bands, Panic at the Disco

Panic at the Disco made a second statement about the departure of two of their members on their MySpace blog. The remaining members, Brendon and Spencer, wrote “We just wanted to let you know, that the news of Ryan and Jon leaving the band is unfortunately true. It’s been an amazing journey being in a band with them, but sometimes individual tastes take friends in different directions and you can’t ignore it. They are some of the most talented guys we know, and we’re sure that whatever they do next will be great. That said, Panic At The Disco is alive and very very well. We are working on new songs that we are excited for you to hear. Our dates with Blink and No Doubt start in a little less than a month, and we wouldn’t miss those for the world. We know everybody has a lot of questions at this point with everything being so out of the blue, most of those should be answered in the coming weeks. We appreciate every one of you, and hope you continue with us on this incredible ride.”

Neverland too tainted for Michael Jackson’s final resting place, says his mother

Posted by Sam on 9th July 2009 in Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson’s mother feels Neverland Ranch is too tainted to become a burial site for her son.

Katherine Jackson is said to have had heated discussions with Michael’s brother, Jermaine, who wants the singer to be buried at the ranch where he lived from 1988 to 2003. Charges of child molestation made against the singer and police raids are believed to have caused him to leave.

Katherine believes that Michael would not wish to be laid to rest there for the same reasons that he did not want to live there.

A source close to Katherine said: “Michael left Neverland for good, never to return. He felt violated by law enforcement after his molestation trial. He felt this place he had built had been tainted.”

Jermaine said: “This is his home, he created this. Why wouldn’t he be here? I feel his presence. And I love that. I want my mother to come back here and feel what I feel. He built this place with love and you can see it and feel it.”
