President Obama Reached Out to Jackson Family

Posted by Sam on 30th June 2009 in Barack Obama, Michael Jackson

A top White House adviser has recently revealed that President Barack Obama has written a note to Michael Jackson’s family. David Axelrod says that the President expressed his condolences to the Jackson family. He said that Obama saw the pop star as a spectacular performer whose life had sad and tragic aspects. The President did not issue a statement immediately following the singer’s death. But then again, he is the President of the United States. I’m sure he had more pressing matters at hand. I also wonder if he is going to give some sort of honor to Michael and his family.

X Factor hype was bigger than Presidents inauguration, says Beyonc

Beyoncé has revealed there was more hype around her performance on The X Factor than when she performed at President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

The 27-year-old singer sung some of her tracks on the British talent show before performing a duet with contestant Alexandra Burke, who went on to win the show.

Talking about her performance on The X Factor, she said: “The day after I performed, I’ve literally never had so many people say they watched me. Every single person I met said: ‘I saw you on The X Factor.’ And I was like: ‘This is weird.’

She added: “Even appearing at the inauguration of our President wasn’t the same.”

Beyoncé also performed at this year’s Oscars ceremony but she said she was more nervous for her performance at Obama’s inauguration.

She said: “I have to say the inauguration was more nerve-wracking than the Oscars.”

She added: “I was nervous at the Oscars as well, especially all that choreography and all those songs squished into the five minutes, but you know it’s nothing like the inauguration.”

“That was just… mind-blowing… Everyone could feel it, it was something spiritual.”

The Black Eyed Peas are bent on changing the world in their own little way through the Peapod Foundation. The band ahs made a name for itself not only in Hollywood but globally as well so they can easily get sponsorships from big companies. Willl.i.am said he wants to continue to give back to poverty-stricken areas even in California where school funding has been reduced by $200 million. The band has hooked up with Adobe giving them a chance to continue their programs in Harlem, East L.A. Philippines and in Mississippi.

The band including lead singer Fergie was recently spotted at the 5th Annual Black Eyed Peas Peapod Foundation Benefit Concert where they raised more funds to finance their undertaking. Will.i.am said he hopes to continue being active and provide children with the opportunities that will allow them to express themselves. He said President Barack Obama’s presence in the White House should encourage everyone to do their part in changing America for the better. He admitted he has not spoken to Obama after creating “New Day” but said he saw him at the inauguration.

Josh Groban for Obama

Posted by Sam on 26th January 2009 in Barack Obama, Josh Groban

Josh Groban performed with Herbie Hancock on a duet of Paul Simon’s ‘America’ during a rally for Feeding America at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in Washington DC last Monday. Martin Luther King III, Ben Affleck and David Arquette were just some of the celebrities who were present to support the cause. The 27-year old Josh also opened the ‘We Are One’ concert with a stirring rendition of ‘My Country Tis of Thee’. I hope that the camaraderie that was shown during the events of the past week don’t just stop there. There’s much more that can be done with a united front.

Mariah Carey apparently left the Inauguration Ball

Mariah Carey apparently furiously left the Inauguration Ball on Tuesday night when she found out that she would not be sitting at the same table with the Barack Obama family, but that she would be sitting at the VIP lounge with other celebrities… whom she probably considered to be the commoners. A source said: “Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Barack Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.” Of course she left, Mariah Carey is too good to sit at the same table with Alicia Keys or Jon Bon Jovi.

Shakira Shakes for Obama

Latina magazine is reporting that Shakira will be performing at the Barack Obama inauguration in January. The President-elect’s camps isn’t confirming or the denying the report but I’m inclined to believe it. Latina magazine did break the big news that Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon earlier this year so they’re more reliable than most magazines. Plus, when Shakira endorsed Obama back in October, Obama responded with “It’s an honor for me to receive support from someone with so much talent, from an artist who has been so generous.” There’s mutual love there so it wouldn’t be too big of a stretch for Shakira to perform for him.
