Katy Perry to Host EMAs

Posted by Sam on 7th October 2009 in Green Day, Leona Lewis, MTV

MTV has recently announced the host for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. For the second time in a row, that responsibility goes to Katy Perry. MTV execs were pleased with the singer’s performance last year in Liverpool so they’ve asked her to take on the job once again. This marks the first time that MTV has ever asked someone to host two consecutive EMAs. Congratulations to Katy! This year’s awards show will take place in Berlin on November 5th. So far, the only performers confirmed for the show are Green Day and Leona Lewis. Who would you like to see perform?

Green Day Singer Talks Drugs

Posted by Sam on 27th August 2009 in Drugs, Flash News, Green Day, Rock

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong recently had an interview with Maxim. In that interview, the rock star talked about what drug he will never do again. The band’s front man said “Acid. I don’t regret doing it, but. I sure as fuck wouldn’t do it now. I’m way too neurotic. I’d be, like, sitting in the corner sucking my thumb for nine hours.” Honestly, I can imagine him behaving like that. I don’t know. There’s just something about the way that he looks that screams that sort of behavior. I’m not talking about the drug use here, alright? It’s just the thumb sucking thing.

Green Day has just premiered the video for their new single, “21 Guns,” exclusively on MySpace Music. “21 Guns” is the second single from the band’s latest album 21st Century Breakdown, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, as well as on the Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative charts, fueled by the Alternative radio No. 1 single “Know Your Enemy.” 21st Century Breakdown, which Rolling Stone has called “a rock opera in which the rock always comes first,” also topped the charts in 24 countries including the UK, Canada, and Japan.

Over the past month, Green Day has continued to work with MySpace Music for the promotion of 21st Century Breakdown. During the week of the album’s release, they played an exclusive concert in New York City which was filmed for the site’s premiere online concert program, The List. The performance can now be seen on The List’s official MySpace profile.

This year’s show will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 9th, and air the next day, Monday, August 10th, on FOX at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can vote for Green Day at http://www.teenchoiceawards.com/.

The first leg of the tour will cross North America through the summer and finish up with two shows in Los Angeles on August 26th.

Posted by Sam on 30th March 2009 in Album Release, Green Day

Five years after their commercially and critically successful release, ‘American Idiot’, Green Day has announced that they will be coming out with their 8th studio album on May 15th. But if you can’t wait that long, the first single off of ‘21st Century Breakdwon’, ‘Know Your Enemy’, will be available sometime in April. According to an Entertainment Weekly sneak peek, the new album doesn’t deviate much from the established style in ‘American Idiot’. The album is also divided into three acts, namely ‘Heroes and Cons’, ‘Charlatans and Saints’, and ‘Horseshoes and Handgrenades’. They should go on tour for this album. Better yet, they should go on tour with No Doubt!
