Alice in Chains talk with Metallica about new album

Posted by Sam on 16th October 2009 in Album, Alice In Chains, Metallica, song, video

Today, and for the next 3 weeks, AOL’s Noisecreep.com will be releasing an exclusive and/or unheard audio clip from the amazing FMQB Metallica/Alice in Chains interview, “Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.” This week’s clip features Metallica talking to Alice in Chains about their collaboration with Elton John on the song “Black Gives Way To Blue.” “It’s a really intense song, and a really open-hearted song to Layne and the experience that we went through,” Cantrell says to Hetfield and Ulrich about the title track. “Facing up to all of that stuff, and owning all the good, and owning all the bad, and moving forward together. It was a lot of big steps…things were pretty black for us. It’s pretty literal to that, and things are starting to get a little lighter.” Keep checking back in the coming weeks for parts 2 and 3 of this classic interview.

Metallica’s James Hetfield admitted to Swedish hospital

Posted by Sam on 12th March 2009 in Metallica, Music Bands

Roughly 16,000 Metallica fans were preparing to rock it with their favorite band and they got to see them all right. However, the band members sans frontman James Hetfield, went up the stage only to tell them that the show would not go as scheduled. Hard rocking idol Metallica canceled their second and last gig in Stockholm after James Hetfield suffered from dehydration as a result of a stomach bug right before the concert started. So instead of performing for their fans, James Hetfield was confined to a Swedish hospital.

Drummer Lars Ulrich apologized to the audience for the last minute cancellation and told them that as much as the rest of the band want to go on with the show, he is assuring the audience that none of them would want to hear him, Kirk Hammett or Rob Trujillo sing. Metallica also posted the cancellation on their official website and reported that James Hetfield is seeking medical attention at the hospital. The canceled concert was supposed to be the second of two shows scheduled in Stockholm. Metallica promised to come back soon and will reschedule the show sometime this spring. James Hetfield has been released from the hospital and is back in the United States. The show may have been canceled but Metallica’s recent enshrinement to the Rock and Roll hall of Fame will make sure that fans will be there waiting for them when they come back to Stockholm.

New video and iTunes single from Metallica

Posted by Sam on 25th September 2008 in Metallica, New Single

Metallica have just premiered the video for their single “The Day That Never Comes” on their MySpace page. The epic clip was directed by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg and filmed this past July in southern California. On working with the acclaimed filmmaker, Hetfield explained to MTV, “That’s the beauty, I think, of writing vague but powerful lyrics — that someone like a movie director can interpret it in his own way and obviously, someone creative is able to take the metaphors and apply them to whatever he needs in his own life.”

The band have also just unveiled another song from their upcoming album Death Magnetic. The hard-charging track, “Cyanide” is now available for sale on iTunes.
