Robbie Williams Drops Out of Performance

Posted by Sam on 2nd November 2009 in MTV, Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams has decided to pull out of his performance at the MTV European Music Awards, citing scheduling conflicts. Well there goes his comeback. What? Is the singer too busy relapsing? I doubt he has much else going on anyway. Not only is he nominated for an award but he needs to do something to counteract his insane X Factor performance. Snap out of it man! Or was he too embarrassed to go back on stage because of that? And I thought that he was serious about getting his music career back on track. The only thing that could probably save him now is a Take That reunion and that’s saying a lot.

Katy Perry to Host EMAs

Posted by Sam on 7th October 2009 in Green Day, Leona Lewis, MTV

MTV has recently announced the host for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards. For the second time in a row, that responsibility goes to Katy Perry. MTV execs were pleased with the singer’s performance last year in Liverpool so they’ve asked her to take on the job once again. This marks the first time that MTV has ever asked someone to host two consecutive EMAs. Congratulations to Katy! This year’s awards show will take place in Berlin on November 5th. So far, the only performers confirmed for the show are Green Day and Leona Lewis. Who would you like to see perform?

MTV Still Wants to Air DJ AM Series

Posted by Sam on 28th September 2009 in Drugs, MTV

Before his sudden and tragic death, DJ AM worked on a drug intervention show with MTV called ‘Gone Too Far’. The production team was able to capture enough footage for the making of 8 episodes and the network still intends to air them. At the moment, the production heads are in talks with the late entertainer’s family about how and when to show the episodes. It is being said that since the show follows DJ AM in the role of a “sober and experienced tough-love guide for troubled addicts” and the strong implications that his own death resulted from drug abuse that the show would come off as hypocritical.

Lady Gaga Talks VMA Performance

Posted by Sam on 21st September 2009 in Lady GaGa, MTV

Lady Gaga picked up the Best New Artist award at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. At the awards show, the singer also gave an intense and interesting performance of her single ‘Paparazzi’. Lady Gaga talked about her performance in a recent interview saying “I wanted to say something honest and real and not just give a performance where I was jacking off on stage the whole time about my record. It was really for my fans, who I knew would be at home cheering and swooning.” I was able to catch her performance and I can’t really say that I’m swooning. To be honest, I was quite disturbed by it.

The All-American Rejects Rock New York City

All-American Rejects-band
The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.”
They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news
and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange
The All-American Rejects’ album When The World Comes Down featuring “Gives You Hell” and “I Wanna” is in stores now. For more information visit allamericanrejects.com

Celebrities Talk Kanye West

Posted by Sam on 17th September 2009 in Kanye West, MTV, Taylor Swift

The entire industry has rallied around Taylor Swift after the whole incident at Sunday night’s MTV VMAs as celebrities have taken to their respective Twitter accounts to show their outrage at Kanye West. Pink said “Kanye west is the biggest piece of shit on earth. Quote me.” Adam Lambert said “Kanye needs to chill. He freaks out every year. It ain’t that deep man.” Joel Madden said “WOW Taylor Swift’s first VMA and she didn’t even get to ENJOY it. Kanye You were just a bully on that one man.” Kellie Pickler said “Tator Tot, you handled yourself with Grace. Kanye, go grow some f-ing balls bitch! don’t mess w/my lil sis!!” Mind you, those are some of the nicer ones.

Kanye West ruins Taylor Swift’s big moment at the VMAs

Kanye West stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and ruined country starlet Taylor Swift’s big moment by insisting her award should have gone to Beyonce.

The hip hop star was roundly booed by the celebrity-packed audience after interrupting Taylor’s acceptance speech by grabbing the microphone to slam the result in the very first category.

Kanye jumped up from his seat in the audience after Taylor’s promo for You Belong To Me had been announced as the winner of Best Female Video ahead of Beyonce’s Single Ladies video.

He took the microphone from stunned Taylor and blasted: “Yo Taylor. I’m really happy for you, I’m going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

The watching Beyonce looked horrified as the TV cameras cut to her immediately.

The audience responded with a chorus of boos as Kanye shrugged and returned the microphone to shellshocked Taylor before leaving the stage.

They continued to boo every time Kanye’s name was mentioned throughout the show on Sunday night, with the Love Lockdown star nominated for several awards himself.

Celebrities were quick to pan Kanye on their Twitter pages, with Katy Perry, who was at the ceremony, Tweeting: “F*** you Kanye. It’s like you stepped on a kitten.”

If only that will actually happen, it will be one of the biggest crossover hits if you ask me. The Jonas Brothers continued Fan Week with dance pop star Lady GaGa at MTV’s Total Request Live at the MTV Times Square Studios on Tuesday in New York City. The brothers are really becoming one hot commodity as the New York Times gave a raving review about their Burnin Up concert at Madison Square Garden saying “Now they are among the most culturally important American rock bands of the last decade, reflective of the size and buying power of the children’s market, the mainstreaming of clean Christian values in pop and the evergreen ability of a few handsome kids with reedy voices to captivate all girls within eye- and earshot.”

MTV is ALL OVER Tokio Hotel

Posted by Sam on 17th July 2008 in MTV, TOKIO HOTEL, TRL, Tour Dates

MTV is ALL OVER Tokio Hotel. The band’s last Times Square takeover was so successful that they have been invited back to spend an entire week on TRL. Check out what MTV has to say about Tokio Hotel below.
“Just another reason why we should petition the U.S. government (they’re not busy, right?) to officially change “August” to “Tokio Hotel Month”; Bill, Gustav, Tom, and Georg — collectively known as Tokio Hotel, and usually referred to between breathless gasps of OH MEIN GOTT! — are bringing their cat eyes, impressive biceps, copious dreadlocks and brooding stares back to TRL for an entire week, beginning August 4.
Mark your calendars, phone a friend, and/or tattoo it on some inconspicuous part of your face before Tokio Hotel melts it off: Tokio Hotel, live and in the flesh, will be on TRL all week beginning Monday, August 4th.
+ Plus: get Tokio Hotel’s just-announced August 2008 tour dates, watch their TRL performance, behind-the-scenes footage from their last trip to TRL, exclusive MTV interview, check out their MTV photo shoot, and their tour diaries. (We’re kind of obsessed too, if you couldn’t tell.)”

    Britney Spears’ New Video

Posted by Sam on 15th March 2008 in Britney Spears, MTV, Music Artist, Music Video, New Single, Singers

    britney-spears-new-video.jpg

MTV has made a couple of mistakes about the premiere of Britney Spears’ new video and I’ve made fun about it because I didn’t even know she filmed for anything. Now I know why. UK’s The Sun is reporting that the fallen pop star’s video for the third single ‘Break the Ice’ off of her ‘Blackout’ album has been given the cartoon-treatment. It’s all grit in a futuristic setting. The video was made in Korea with a Japanese anime theme which is reportedly her own idea. The Sun reports “She told label bosses she wanted a cartoon version of her celebrated Toxic clip.”
