Despite Nick Jonas having some solo ambition, the Jonas Brothers have no intention of breaking up. In a letter to their fans, the band of brothers said “We plan to make music together for as long as we can.” Nick also wrote “We’ve said from the beginning of our career as the Jonas Brothers that anything we do outside of the group is a side project because you can’t break up brothers. My brothers are my biggest supporters, and were on the phone with me everyday while I was in the studio asking how it was going, and telling me they couldn’t wait to hear the record.” Joe and Kevin replied to that, saying “We are so proud of our brother Nick. We know that we will be doing music together for the rest of our lives. But we are thrilled for you to hear these songs that were on his heart.” Aww.
Fergie is seen laying out in the jungle the music video for their new song ‘Meet Me Halfway’, the third official single from the Black Eyed Peas’ latest album ‘The END’. will.i.am talked about the video saying “This is a very different type of video … ‘Boom Boom Pow’ was very futuristic and ‘I Gotta Feeling’ had a party vibe, but this is more artistic video. It’s very arty.” He’s so articulate, isn’t he? Couldn’t he say anything else about the video except how arty it is and how artistic it is? It’s the same thing idiot. For a rapper, he’s not that creative.
For some time now, rumors have been going around that the Pussycat Dolls were breaking up. Well, the time has come for the music group to talk of a much needed break. Band member Melody Thornton confirmed that they were taking some time off from each other but assures fans that they will get back together soon. The singer said “Yeah, we’re taking a break. No, [we're not broken up] … everybody keeps saying that, but it’s like, let me see who took a break? Dave Chappelle. Remember when Dave Chappelle took that break? OK, maybe Dave Chappelle’s a bad example. What about, like, Hootie and the Blowfish?” Someone needs to get more familiar with pop culture during her break.
Blink 182 has cancelled a couple more shows with their touring partners Weezer and Taking Back Sunday as the band continues to mourn the loss of their friend, DJ AM. A representative for Weezer revealed that the concert in Cleveland last week was cancelled while, for Thursday’s St. Louis show, Taking Back Sunday guitarist Eddie Reyes went on Twitter to say that he was in his home state and that he wouldn’t be getting back to the tour until the weekend. I know how important it is to have a time to grieve but Blink 182 also needs to take care of their fans. I hope they already have plans for a refund or to reschedule the shows.
Billy Corgan has hired a new drummer for The Smashing Pumpkins and the new kid’s only 19 years old. Mike Byrne sent the singer a demo tape of his drumming skills when the band made it known online that they were looking for a new drummer last Spring. Billy was reportedly blown away by the kid’s talents and put the Portland, Oregon native on a plane to LA for a live audition. Billy says that Mike “seemed to have that X-factor that all the great drummers have” and the singer is anxious to begin work on the band’s new album because he believes “in [his] heart he will push [him] to be a better musician.”
Due to a diagnosed ear infection, Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger is unable to travel or to perform, forcing the rest of the group to cancel the first three shows of their upcoming tour with the Black Eyed Peas. I’m sure the other girls aren’t thrilled. I guess the people in charge don’t think that any of the other girls are good enough to fill in for Nicole. But what’s this? Pussycat Dolls’ management recently released a statement saying that the group wasn’t even asked to tour with the BEPs, Nicole doesn’t have an ear infection and that she’s in Europe on holiday. Just cut to the chase. I don’t think we’ll be seeing more of the Dolls anytime soon or ever again.
Legendary country music duo Brooks & Dunn are said to be over and done. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have recently announced that it’s the time for them to leave the country music scene and that they will be calling it quits after a 2010 farewell tour. The duo said in a statement “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time to call it a day. This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed…. We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time.” Brooks & Dunn are now preparing for their final tour, The Last Rodeo Tour, and the release of their greatest hits collection ‘#1… and Then Some’.
Panic at the Disco made a second statement about the departure of two of their members on their MySpace blog. The remaining members, Brendon and Spencer, wrote “We just wanted to let you know, that the news of Ryan and Jon leaving the band is unfortunately true. It’s been an amazing journey being in a band with them, but sometimes individual tastes take friends in different directions and you can’t ignore it. They are some of the most talented guys we know, and we’re sure that whatever they do next will be great. That said, Panic At The Disco is alive and very very well. We are working on new songs that we are excited for you to hear. Our dates with Blink and No Doubt start in a little less than a month, and we wouldn’t miss those for the world. We know everybody has a lot of questions at this point with everything being so out of the blue, most of those should be answered in the coming weeks. We appreciate every one of you, and hope you continue with us on this incredible ride.”

If you’re wondering why the Jonas Brothers are such good little boys, you better ask their mom. Denise Jonas recently opened up about her famous trio of kids in the July issue of ‘Good Housekeeping’. Nick admits “She makes us be careful in the hotel room…[She makes us] put back the towels, straighten the bed.” Considering how hotels have their own cleaning service, she sounds kind of strict. Mama Jonas also talked about her sons’ purity rings saying “They are men. They have desires. They have testosterone. If they make a mistake, I’m not going to hate them. I don’t think they are above or below being seduced. I would be foolish if I thought that. I pray for them.”

Try as you may to maintain some sort of reputation, the hard times in the economy will force you to sell out at some point. Pearl Jam is planning to record a Target commercial in promotion of their new album which is due out some time this year. The reason for this is that the iconic rock band wants to release their album independently without any label backing. Therefore, they need to distribute to multiple partners. The band’s manager said “Target ended up allowing us to have other partners. We’ll be able to take care of all levels of the Pearl Jam fan…We wish we could tell the whole story right now, but all the deals aren’t done. Target was cool enough to realize that little independent record stores are not their competition.”
Dave Matthews Band will release Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, the highly anticipated album following the death of band member Leroi Moore, on June 2. The album, a tribute to Leroi Moore, will be the band’s first studio album in 4 years and will include the newly released single “Funny the Way It Is”. Rolling Stone’s four star review states that Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King producer Rob Cavallo, “has brought some of the classic-rock edge of his hit records with Green Day and My Chemical Romance to Matthews arena-size spin on early-Seventies Traffic.” Those who are awaiting the album’s release on June 2 can now stream the complete album at Pandora.com.

The Jonas Brothers are hustling as the band of brothers were spotted in London at the Empire Leicester Square for the UK premiere of their movie ‘Jonas Brothers in 3D’ on Wednesday. Hundreds of tween girls screaming at the top of their lungs came out to show their support for the guys. For their sakes, I hope that their movie will do better overseas than it did in the US. Talk about a major bummer. If they still do poorly overseas, it goes to show that their star is really on a downward spiral now. And I doubt that tweens would want the Jonas Brothers to be washed up before Nick even turns 18.
U2’s new single, “Magnificent,” was released on May 4th by Mercury Records.
The video for “Magnificent” was directed by French filmmaker Alex Courtes. Alex also directed the video for the band’s previous single, “Get On Your Boots,” and alongside his former creative partner Martin Fougeral won a Grammy award for the “Vertigo” video. The video for “Magnificent” was shot in the historic city of Fez, Morocco last month.
“Magnificent,” the second single from No Line On The Horizon, will be available in the UK as a download and on 7″ vinyl. The vinyl single will be backed with a live version of album track Breathe, recorded in the Somerville Theatre in Boston earlier this year.

Multi-platinum hard-rockers SALIVA have just released the official video for their new single, “How Could You.” The clip was directed by Scott Culver who has also helmed videos by Ludo and Hellogoodbye among others. The track comes off their latest album, Cinco Diablo which hit stores in late 2008. The Bob Marlette (Ozzy Osbourne) produced set also yielded the radio hit, “Family Reunion” and “My Own Worst Enemy” which finds Saliva’s Josey Scott being joined by Shinedown vocalist Brent Smith. The band was scheduled to co-headline this year’s SnoCore tour but Scott had to be operated for an ulcer so Saliva had to bow out of the trek.
Saliva are also working on a reality show that they began filming footage for during the making of Cinco Diablo. The candid look into their rock-n-roll lifestyle, the show will follow them out on the touring circuit and show viewers another side of the band. A pilot has been shot but here are no further details at this time. Expect Saliva to make an announcement in the next few months.
