Kelly Clarkson Gets Bad Review

kelly-clarkson.jpg

Kelly Clarkson recently had a concert in the UK and one might think that after reading the reviews of her concert earlier this week that you were reading a review of Avril Lavigne’s concert. The American Idol alum got slammed for her performances on the songs from her flop of a third album, the ill-advised rock album ‘My December’, but was praised pretty well for her bona fide hits in ‘Breakaway’ and ‘Since U Been Gone’. The poor thing needs a new album of good material out. We can’t let ‘My December’ follow her forever or she’ll get completely destroyed!

Mixed Review for Heidi Montag’s Single

Posted by Sam on 26th March 2008 in Heidi Montag, Music Review, New Single, Songs

heidi-montag.jpg

Heidi tried again, but The Hills’ star isn’t necessarily set for a hit career in music yet. Her first single, heavy on the synthesizer, bombed. This one, though, got a few more good reviews.

“No More” received a mixture of reviews. One person said, “This release is an improvement over your last. It has a catchy melody. I’m not sure music is in your niche, but you do seem persistant.” Another said, “I kind of like it.”

On the other hand, one said, “This is horrible. If I heard this while driving, I could possible drive into a wall. You can’t even tell what her real voice would sound like.”

Kasabian reveal concept album

kasabian-band.jpg

Speaking exclusively, Kasabian’s Serge Pizzorno has revealed the concept behind their new album, which he hopes to be ready for September release.

The follow-up to 2006’s “call to arms” album ‘Empire’ will be a concept album as well, with guitarist Serge revealing: “In a way it’s a concept album, like a soundtrack to some mad film. It’s like a really good road movie, yeah a road movie…that’s what I’d say.”

As for the style? It seems getting their own recording studio has made a big difference.

“We built our own studio which has freed us up massively,” he explained. “We’ve really been experimenting on this album. The first three tracks we’ve done are twenty minutes long! Music’s stuck in a reality at the moment and we’re going the other way, back into experimentation without structure which is hypnotic and sends you into a trance. It’s very psychedelic, real head music that bends you around.”

He also described two stand out tracks, telling us: “My two favourite tunes so far are ‘Take Aim’ and ‘Where’s All The Love Go’. ‘Take Aim’ is like a mad Latin folk tune but there’s a bit of Dr Dre in there too. So it’s got a hip hop flavour with a folk edge – it’s pretty wild!”

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee SimpsonAshlee Simpson
Ashlee Simpson is in a good place. She has two multi-platinum records that debuted back to back at the top of the charts and collectively sold more than four million copies in the U.S. alone. She has two sold-out tours under her belt, a tight-knit family, a loyal fan base, and a burgeoning second career as an actress. So when it came time to create her third album, she wanted the music to represent where she was at in life.

“Life is really good right now. I’m young. I love my life and I enjoy my time off too. I wanted to celebrate all that on my next record. I wanted to make music people could shake their booties to and use beats for the first time. I wanted to sing fun songs. Basically, I wanted to make a party record.”

Ashlee teamed up with power producer Timbaland on her new single “Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya)” making it destined for dance-floor anthem status. The track immediately rocketed to the Top 20 pop singles on iTunes and received its TRL debut. The video for the hauntingly catchy song takes your imagination on a wild ride through a dreamlike world of surrealism.

Timbaland leaked Madonna’s new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’

Madonna’s new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was the first to report that Timbaland leaked Madonna’s rumored new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’ and also even posted the track on the website. But it seems that the move has infuriated Madonna’s current record label Warner Bros. because Perez was told to take down the recording. They obliged of course. What’s one simple click of a mouse compared to millions due to a lawsuit?

Timbaland played the song in concert on Sunday night and now, audio and video recordings of the song are all over the internet. Someone may just get a stern talking to.

Umbrella Covers – Rihanna

Umbrella Covers - Rihanna

Rihanna’s hit single ‘Umbrella’ has been the biggest single of the year which merited a lot of covers from different artists representing different genres. It’s actually the most covered single of 2007. It’s so big that even Rihanna has done her own cover of her own song!

Rihanna actually went back in to the studio and recorded an amazing acoustic version of the song. Her acoustic version features a new arrangement and even a few added lyrics. It’s incredible! Maybe this would be the end of the ‘Umbrella’ covers. It’s already gone back to where it all started – Rihanna herself.

Kylie Minogue Sells Out

Kylie Minogue Sells Out

Kylie Minogue is a sell out – in a good way. The Australian singer sold out all eight of her UK shows in less than two hours which prompted promoters to add another seven UK shows to her schedule. Tickets went on sale at 9AM on Monday for the eight original scheduled shows and by 10AM the promoter added the extra shows to meet the demand.

Kylie has a lot to party for apart from that. Her new album ‘X’ is #1 in Australia and #4 in the UK during its first week of release. She has also agreed to perform at the Brit Awards in February which will be hosted by Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.

COHEED AND CAMBRIA TO HIT THE ROAD SUPPORTING LINKIN PARK

COHEED AND CAMBRIA Tour

Columbia Records is proud to announce that Coheed and Cambria will be supporting Linkin Park on all dates of their upcoming national tour. The tour goes from February 12 to March 10 and will be hitting 19 cities, including Madison Square Garden in New York. The dates come on the heels of Coheed’s successful sold-out 25-date national headlining tour that wrapped at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on November 29, 2007.

In their live review of the Los Angeles show at The Wiltern, the “LA Times” raved:

“Self-indulgence is frequently seen as a crime in modern rock music, but without it there would have been no Led Zeppelin or ‘Sgt. Pepper,’ no Ziggy Stardust or System of a Down. Overreaching sometimes pays off. And few young bands reach further than the prog-metal act Coheed and Cambria, for whom the extremes of time and space hardly seem to be enough,” and concluded that the band had “epic sound and fury.”

Coheed are touring to support their fourth record, “No World for Tomorrow,” which debuted at #6 on the Billboard top 200, giving the band their highest debut in their career as well as its highest chart position. Radio continues to show huge support across the country for the album’s first single, “The Running Free” (charting on both Alternative and Active charts) while critical response to the album has been fantastic. Besides being highlighted in fall preview features in “New York” magazine, “USA Today” and the “New

York Times,” “Blender” magazine said that with the release of the new record, “Coheed have found their sweet spot.” David Fricke in “Rolling Stone” noted the band’s “impressive resolution in the decisive pop arc of the mutating riffs and slippery time signatures,” and concluded, “there is plenty worthy of rewind here.” “Revolver” gave the record four stars in their lead review and said that, “this record feels like the beginning of something new,” as it marks Coheed’s “ascent from the geek-metal underground to the heavy-music mainstream.”

Coheed and Cambria (Sanchez – vocals, guitar; Travis Stever – guitar; Mic Todd – bass) spent the first half of 2007 working on “No World for Tomorrow” in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour) and mixer Randy Staub (Metallica, Nickelback). Coheed recruited Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters to play drums on the record, while ex-Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie is now a permanent fixture in the band and has taken their live shows to new heights.

“No World For Tomorrow” has sold over 100,000 copies in four weeks, and the Linkin Park dates mark the first time the band has played in arenas.

Jonas Brother Blog

Jonas Brother Blog

The Jonas Brothers took to the stage at the 2007 American Music Awards where Joe took a spill right at the top of their performance. Joe put up a blog about it recently and talked about what went on through the whole thing.

He said that after he fell, he saw the smiling faces of the fans and knew that he had to get up and go on with the show. Joe had so much fun performing that he didn’t even notice that he was bleeding until someone backstage pointed it out to him. And it seems that he got cut not only on his hands but on his leg too.

Does he feel no pain or what?
