Britney Bumped Off

Britney Bumped Off

In an unprecedented move, Billboard has decided to revise their charts by allowing records sold at only one retailer to appear on the lists. As a result, Britney Spears did not take the top spot on the albums’ chart but rather surrendered it to the Eagles.

Britney’s ‘Blackout’ was expected to sell 350,000 copies based on projections. However, it only sold 290,000 copies since its release last week. By contrast, Carrie Underwood’s latest CD sold 527,000 copies on its debut week. The Eagles’ double disc, their first album of original material in 28 years which is only available at Wal-Mart, sold over 700,000 copies.

50 Weasels Way Out of Retirement

50 Weasels Way Out of Retirement

Rap star 50 Cent said that if he didn’t beat Kanye West in terms of record sales when their new releases came head to head, he would retire. Well, Kanye beat him and there’s still no retirement announcement from 50.

It seems that 50 found a way around his retirement saying to Gatecrasher that his album “was No. 1 internationally the week it came out. It was the No. 1 European album!” Apart from teaching us how to go back on our word, 50 also teaches us a good geography lesson.

But if you want to get technical, he does have a point. He did beat Kanye to the top spot on the album and singles chart in Europe.

ARIA’s Big Winners

Silverchair

Australia’s version of the Grammy’s, the ARIA Awards, was held on Sunday night (their time of course). The big winner of the night was the band Silverchair. Front man Daniel Johns and company took home five trophies, including single of the year, album of the year, highest-selling single of the year, best band and best rock album.

Other winners include Operator Please, who won for breakthrough artist – single for the song ‘Just a Song About Ping Pong’, and Keith Urban who won for best country album.

Congratulations goes out to all the other winners. And let’s all give it up for Silverchair for being the big winner of the night.

She also says that she’s incredibly pleased with the new single and that she can’t wait to perform it.

Armor For Sleep will release Smile For Them on October 30th.

The dark-pop-rock album with the single “Williamsburg” and standout track “Smile For Them” makes it clear that Armor For Sleep has taken notice of society’s fascination with self-made celebrity and reality stars… and they aren’t shy about it.The video for “Williamsburg” will make its world premiere on TRL, MTV and mtvU October 29th, the day before the album hits stores. Shot with the intention to be a social commentary on the Hipster scene, the video gives a satirical lesson straight from the Hipster 101 classroom.

Britney ‘Blackout’ Preview

Her voice is over computerized.. It’s like they are trying to cover up too much how bad she really is or was at the time of recording.. Some of the beats are quite catchy.. cud see them being played in a club.. But I don’t think it’s worth any major attention. But we all know it’ll probably sell really well like gimme more just because of her name and cause she does have a loyal fan base.. Despite the fact she can’t sing! More so I have said time and again to my friends and in my groups while having a heated debate on this come back album of Britney’s is that there are many facts that are in line with this release, she is now divorced and is in a bitter custody battle for her kids with ex-hubby Kevin and these things are overshadowing the release of this album as the paps are busy with her custody case but with so much being written and told about her it is only going to up the interest in her new album, well I can’t figure out what’s happening next in the Brit story.

Britney’s Blackout

Much like the music on her upcoming album, Britney Spears’ album cover art for ‘Blackout’ has leaked. Do you believe it? I don’t. It’s a poor Photoshop job of one of her recent promo pictures. But People magazine published it as her official album cover, so yeah.‘Blackout’ will be released on October 30 as her record label announced earlier this week. It’s a twelve track album with most of the tracks already leaked out way before the release date.

The dance auditions that didn’t happen were supposedly for dancers for the music video of the second track of the album and her second single off of it ‘Piece of Me’.

Kylie is Nicole

blog1-kylie-minogue.jpg
Kylie Minogue is no stranger to fashion. But for whatever reason, it seems like fashion is taking a backseat for the songstress.

Kylie showed up for the Q Awards in London on Monday but the usually flawless Aussie singer looked more like Aussie actress Nicole Kidman. Honestly, it’s not a good thing. The outfit Kylie chose for the red carpet looked more like it was part of the wardrobe for the West End production of Chicago more than anything. Burn it Kylie!

She has a new album coming out. She needs to step up with appearances. Come on girl! I know you have it in you.

Kid Rock Regrets Not Hitting Tommy Lee More To Promote New Album

Posted by Sam on 10th October 2007 in Kid Rock, Music, New CD DVD, News, Performance, Photography, Records Sale, Rock

kid-rock-new-album.jpg

Kid Rock has one regret about his fight with Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards last month – he wishes he’d punched the Motley Crue star a few more times. So look what he has to say, these days a good album doesn’t not sell itself until you have a controversy riding behind that album’s back. This man’s so stupid it’s a miracle he can walk upright. I won’t support this man’s brand of stupidity, what a LOSER. Kid rock need to shut up his album going go flat regardless. This is the only publicity he is getting the story is getting old. But guys doesn’t this highlight the fact that most of our artist feel the need to cook up some controversy just before their albums hit the market so as to generate some interest in their albums. This shows that there exist an attitude where the artist things he has do something to be in the news/stoplight so the fans keep talking about them and somehow those gossips turn into album sales for them and business is good keeping them alive in the business, all wrecked up stuff – forgetful tactics.

Dr. Dre is up for Retirement

Posted by Sam on 26th September 2007 in Dr. Dre, Music, New CD DVD, New Single, News, Singers

dr-dre.jpg
One of the half dozen most influential producers of the modern pop era is just about ready to just kick back and relax. That is, until after he releases his upcoming album.

Dr. Dre has announced that he will be retiring after the release of his solo album ‘Detox’. It’s the album that has been in the works for about eight long years. It’s a time frame that is worrisome for most especially when the likes of Phil Spector, Brian Wilson and Axl Rose have pretty much sealed their fates as has-beens after a long time out of the spotlight.

The difference may very well be in the fact that Dr. Dre has not only been working on his album but has worked on other artists’ albums as well, giving him a lot of creative ideas.

Lonestar Cracker

Posted by Sam on 16th September 2007 in Country Music, Funny, Music, Music Bands, New CD DVD, Singers

lonestar.jpg

The country band Lonestar announced last week that they have a new lead singer and are working on churning out a new Christmas album. Said album will be exclusively available at Cracker Barrel locations throughout the country. The band may want to rethink that deal.

Cracker Barrel has had a sordid history of homophobic and racist behavior. In 1991, the company imposed a policy which required employees to display “normal heterosexual values which have been the foundation of families in our society.” Said policy was eventually nullified 11 years later!

More recently, Reverend Al Sharpton accused the company of racial discrimination after several African American’s, which included Chris Rock’s mother, said that they weren’t served in a timely manner.

Lonestar + Cracker Barrel = Bad Idea.

Emmy’s Man

Emmy Rossum has a boyfriend and it’s someone in the music business. Emmy and her man Justin Siegel were spotted holding hands on the way to a parking garage after their lunch date at Beverly Hills hot spot Kate Mantilini on Tuesday.

Justin works in the A&R division of a record label responsible for scouting and artist development. He works for Interscope Records, a division of Interscope-Geffen-A&M. Geffen happens to be Emmy’s label.

Justin has also been romantically involved with Kimberly Wyatt of the Pussycat Dolls. He reportedly dumped her for Emmy. Ooh, burn.

Emmy’s album ‘Inside Out’ will be released on October 23.
