Alexandra Burke Returns to X Factor

Posted by Sam on 15th October 2009 in Flo Rida, Reality, X Factor

Alexandra Burke made her successful return to The X Factor by performing her new single ‘Bad Boys’ with rapper Flo Rida this past Sunday. The singer won the reality TV singing competition last year. The 21-year old British singing sensation has her debut album ‘Overcome’ being released on October 19. When she was asked to describe her album, Alexandra said “There’s more up-tempo tracks on the album that there are ballads. The ballads on there are very, very strong. The up-tempo tracks are very loud, fierce and beastly! When I recorded the ballads I cried, they’re very emotional.” I can’t wait to hear it.

Former Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson blasts Simon Cowell.

Former Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson says he feels let down by Simon Cowell just a year after winning the show.

Dancer George reportedly said he feels Simon has forgotten him after he made a loss on his DVD.

The 16-year-old thinks he has taken a backseat to music acts such as Alexandra Burke and superstar Leona Lewis.

And the youngster said he has ended up owing money to Cowell’s company for his dance disc Access 2 All Areas.

He told British newspaper The Sun: “Things aren’t going so well with me and Simon. I suppose he’s realised he can make more money out of other people. But I thought we were tight. I had one of the best-selling DVDs at the start of the year. We sold loads of copies.”

He added: “But I’ve just found out that Simon’s company takes 90 per cent of the revenue. I get 10 per cent. But I have to pay the production costs out of that. So I ended up owing them money.

“I’m not quite sure how it all works, but that can’t be fair, can it?”

Posted by Sam on 26th August 2009 in Reality, X Factor

TV presenter Myleene Klass would love to join Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue on The X Factor judging panel, she has revealed.

The 31-year-old said she is a big fan of the hit ITV show and would love to be part of it.

She said: “I can’t believe I missed the first X Factor show because I was at V Festival. I really love the show. Cheryl is my favourite judge, she’s fabulous, don’t you think?”

Myleene also admitted that she would jump at the chance of appearing on the show.

She said to British newspaper the Daily Star: “Simon Cowell is a good friend of mine. So who knows, maybe I’ll get to go on the show one day. I would absolutely love to, it would be an honour.”

Myleene, who appeared as the host of the US version of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, could get her wish sooner than later as a source said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Simon asked Myleene to join the show.

“He would love a harem of sexy ladies surrounding him, that’s just his style.”

American Idol Denies Faking It

I wrote about American Idol contestant – as of last Thursday, American Idol wannabe – Robbie Carrico having a full head of fake hair. Even AI judge Simon Cowell perhaps took shots at the piece when he told Robbie that his performance “just never ever felt real”. But the guy is singing a different tune. Robbie told People last Friday that he’s been growing his head of hair for a very long time and that it’s ridiculous that the media came up with something like that. So what were the spies inside Idol talking about with the Idol officials freaking out over his hair? I guess he just can’t accept the fate that gravity has given to his hairline.

David Archuleta and His Giant Voice

Idol watchers are going nuts over 17 year old David Archuleta. His Tuesday performance of “Imagine” amazed fans and judges alike and placed David at the forefront of the Idol race.

Many are looking back and comparing this performance to Kelly Clarkson’s “Natural Woman” and Carrie Underwood’s “Alone”. Only difference – looks like this year’s winner will be a guy. David’s got an upperhand with the “tween” crowd of 10 to 16 year old girls!

American Idol Wants Cash

Season 7 of American Idol may have the most talented group since the inception of the show – though that’s what they always say every season – but it hasn’t helped with the ratings any. The ratings are so down that the show is finding some new ways to get the cash to roll in. In a first, FOX is partnering with iTunes to offer Idol fans the opportunity to download the performances, both in audio and video format, of all the contestants the days after the show airs. Here’s a bit of my mind for FOX: no one would buy into this ploy. This is what TiVo and YouTube are for.

Eve is Free

Eve showed up to and performed at the Herbal Essences’ Great Escape to the MTV Video Music Awards party at the Palms on Friday night. That happened to be the last night that she had to wear her SCRAM anklet which prevents her from having too much fun and committing another DUI.

On Saturday, the female rapper took of the ankle monitoring bracelet that has been on her for the last 45 days. Eve is finally free!

Now maybe she can drink that champagne that was given to her at the MAC Cosmetics event from New York Fashion week. Cheers!

Branch to put Wreckers country project on hold

Michelle Branch and Jessica Harp, a.k.a. the Wreckers, will put their work as a country duo on hold later this year to pursue solo projects.

In 2004, Branch took a break from her successful solo career to team with friend and touring backup singer Harp to form the Wreckers. Prior to the Branch collaboration, Harp had been working as a singer/songwriter in Nashville. The duo debuted in autumn 2004, performing “Good Kind” on the WB teen drama “One Tree Hill.”

Their album, “Stand Still, Look Pretty,” (Warner Bros.) has sold more than 780,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The duo released three singles, the first of which, “Leave The Pieces,” spent two weeks at No. 1 on Hot Country Songs. They are touring with Keith Urban for the rest of the year.

Branch and Harp’s solo records will be released via Warner Bros., according to a spokesperson.

Harp told the Adrian, Mich., Daily Telegram it was too early to say whether more Wreckers albums were in store. Their next step would be to work on the individual projects, she said, but after that, they would fly by the seat of their pants.

“This whole project just sort of happened on a whim,” Harp told the paper, adding that she had already written some songs for her next album. “As soon as I possibly can, I’ll be getting into the studio,” she told the paper.

Answer Them Blake

American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis was a guest on the Johnjay and Rich radio show in Arizona on Wednesday.

On the morning radio show, Blake was asked about a pressing subject of speculation – his sexuality. ‘I’m definitely not gay,’ he told the hosts. ‘I’m straight. I’ll scream it out loud.’

Jeez. If it’s not a rumored relationship with Idol winner Jordin Sparks, it’s gay rumors. Apparently, if you don’t fess up to a relationship, people start to think that something has to be ‘wrong’ with you and that something ‘wrong’ is that you’re gay. Doi.

Just leave the poor, cute guy alone.

Jordin Sparks Prepares for Debut

Jordin Sparks Prepares for Debut

The sixth “American Idol”, Jordin Sparks, is preparing for her album recording days. Until that time she has a different problem. Everything is crazy around her and this seems to bug her a little. She said that:

“This is so intense. It’s crazy. I haven’t been home yet since I won. I was in L.A. and then New York, and now I’ll finally get to go home and spend some time with my friends. I hope.”

Well Jordin, maybe it is time to wake up! You wanted to be an Idol and now you are. Sparks even has a deadline set for her debut album. This means that it is already time to start thinking about who to work with when it comes to collaborations. Jording did say she wants to have a duet with Chris Brown or Mario. The real problem is that the deadline mentioned above is Thanksgiving so from now on she will have to work real hard, write and record like crazy. She wanted to be a star, now she is!

The search for the next Great American Band

New Reality Series from the Producers of American Idol Searches for the Ultimate Musical Group!
The producers behind mega-hit phenomenon American Idol take the musical reality genre to a whole new level when they embark on a quest to find the next American band sensation that will take the nation by storm. THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN BAND (working title) will scour the country, seeking musical groups of all ages, styles and genres, with hundreds of bands auditioning for a shot at stardom.
After the auditions, judges will narrow down hopefuls from all walks of musical life – young and old, family and friends, garage bands and weekend warriors – to 10 semi-finalists who will perform in front of a live studio audience. Viewers will then get a chance to vote for their favorite bands via telephone and text messaging and determine who stays in the competition.
Each week, the bands will be challenged with varied musical themes, jazzing up each of the performance shows as their skills in a wide spectrum of musical styles are put to the test along with their personal and professional relationships.
This is the next big project of American Idol producers and it is expected to be as successful as the other version which is worldwide spread and the fans of such type of show are billions.
On the other hand this would give another chance for America’s talented singers to show their abilities and maybe to become one of America’s next big superstars. Who knows? Everything can be expected.
Finally, in a not-to-be-missed showdown, the final three bands will compete to secure a recording contract. If you think American Idol is intense, wait until you see what a band must go through for its shot at fame.

Idol Dumps a Couple of Contestants

Posted by Sam on 3rd May 2007 in Flash News, Music, Reality

It’s been two weeks since anyone was voted off of American Idol. Since then, 132 million text messages have been tallied, and tonight two of the contestants got the boot. Who, do you ask? Say goodbye to Florida’s own Stacey and that Chris Richardson guy. It was an emotional episode, filled with hugs, and tears, and good times. American Idol slips toward the end of the sixth season still as America’s number one television show.

idol.jpgI am surprised a guy named Stacey got this far. I mean come on, if I was a guy with a girl’s name I would change it faster than a pair of shoes. Image is everything, and with a name like Stacey I doubt you’ll sell many records. Chris Richardson is a Justin Timberlake look-a-like, so as far as I’m concerned he’s not needed. Justin is still around recording people. Just ask Madonna.
