Britney Bumped Off

Britney Bumped Off

In an unprecedented move, Billboard has decided to revise their charts by allowing records sold at only one retailer to appear on the lists. As a result, Britney Spears did not take the top spot on the albums’ chart but rather surrendered it to the Eagles.

Britney’s ‘Blackout’ was expected to sell 350,000 copies based on projections. However, it only sold 290,000 copies since its release last week. By contrast, Carrie Underwood’s latest CD sold 527,000 copies on its debut week. The Eagles’ double disc, their first album of original material in 28 years which is only available at Wal-Mart, sold over 700,000 copies.

Kid Rock Regrets Not Hitting Tommy Lee More To Promote New Album

Kid Rock has one regret about his fight with Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards last month – he wishes he’d punched the Motley Crue star a few more times. So look what he has to say, these days a good album doesn’t not sell itself until you have a controversy riding behind that album’s back. This man’s so stupid it’s a miracle he can walk upright. I won’t support this man’s brand of stupidity, what a LOSER. Kid rock need to shut up his album going go flat regardless. This is the only publicity he is getting the story is getting old. But guys doesn’t this highlight the fact that most of our artist feel the need to cook up some controversy just before their albums hit the market so as to generate some interest in their albums. This shows that there exist an attitude where the artist things he has do something to be in the news/stoplight so the fans keep talking about them and somehow those gossips turn into album sales for them and business is good keeping them alive in the business, all wrecked up stuff – forgetful tactics.

Starbucks label to release James Taylor live album

Coffee shop chain Starbucks Corp. said on Monday its new Hear Music record label will release a live album by singer-songwriter James Taylor this holiday season.

Taylor’s “One Man Band” will be the third album released by Hear Music, which was formed by Starbucks and Concord Music Group earlier this year. An album by folk singer Joni Mitchell will hit stores in September.

The label’s first release, Paul McCartney’s “Memory Almost Full,” had sold 496,000 copies in the United States as of August 5, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Sales at Starbucks stores account for 46 percent of those sales.

Starbucks’ influence as a music retail outlet has grown in recent years. Before forming its own record label, it posted a big success with the Ray Charles album, “Genius Loves Company,” which won eight Grammy awards.

Hear Music releases are available at U.S. Starbucks and traditional music retailers.

“One Man Band” will be an “intimate retrospective of 40 years worth of songs,” Taylor said in a statement, and will include live recordings of “Something in the Way,” “Carolina in my Mind,” and “Fire and Rain.”

Kanye West And 50 Cent Set For An Album Battle

50-cent.jpg
Rap rivals Kanye West and 50 Cent will go head to head on September 11th when their albums are released simultaneously. Last month, West decided to release his third album Graduation early, on August 21st, to avoid a sales war with 50 Cent’s new disc Curtis. After originally planning to release Curtis in June, 50 Cent delayed the album until September 4th, then last week it was postponed again until September 11th. And now West has decided to release Graduation on the same day, according to a representative from his record label Def Jam. Where’s the love, what about the fans that love 50&kanye? Did they stop and think that all there fans are not rich? And they cannot afford to buy 2 albums at the same time, there is enough money to go around, they just need to spread it out a lil bit! Please don’t put us in that position to have to choose between the 2, it is not fair!
