Own Elvis’ Hair

Posted by Sam on 12th October 2009 in Elvis Presley, Rock

A clump of Elvis Presley’s hair is up for auction! The locks, which were cut off in 1958 when the King of Rock and Roll joined the Army, will be up for grabs on October 18th as part of an Elvis memorabilia collection in Chicago. Sources say that they expect the singer’s hair to go for around $12,000 at the sale. I don’t know about you but that’s just a little too creepy for me. However, it may be something to hold onto for those genetic engineering freaks out there just waiting for the science to progress and wanting their very own Elvis clone.

Kings of Leon Keep Busy

Posted by Sam on 1st September 2009 in Kings of Leon, New CD DVD, Rock

Rock stars King of Leon caught a departing flight to England via LAX last week. The Followill boys, Caleb, Jared, Matthew and Nathan, played at UK’s Reading Festival last Friday and at UK’s Leeds Festival on Sunday. The band has a busy year ahead of them as they will also be releasing a remix album and a live DVD, which was filmed in England where they first broke. Lead singer Caleb will also be making a fall appearance as a guest judge on the Food Network series ‘Iron Chef’. And Nathan will be walking down the aisle this November when he marries musician Jessie Baylin.

Green Day Singer Talks Drugs

Posted by Sam on 27th August 2009 in Drugs, Flash News, Green Day, Rock

Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong recently had an interview with Maxim. In that interview, the rock star talked about what drug he will never do again. The band’s front man said “Acid. I don’t regret doing it, but. I sure as fuck wouldn’t do it now. I’m way too neurotic. I’d be, like, sitting in the corner sucking my thumb for nine hours.” Honestly, I can imagine him behaving like that. I don’t know. There’s just something about the way that he looks that screams that sort of behavior. I’m not talking about the drug use here, alright? It’s just the thumb sucking thing.

Manic Street Preachers say no to Eric Clapton

Posted by Sam on 18th May 2009 in Eric Clapton, Manic Street Preachers, Rock

Eric Clapton supposedly recently approached the guitarist from the band Manic Street Preachers, Richey Edwards, in order to try a collaboration. Eric Clapton apparently did this while the two were being treated in the same facility, as bassist Nicky Wire related: “Richey was in The Priory and Eric Clapton was there and he offered to come round and jam, that was one of those moments where you couldn’t write anything funnier, in a tragic situation.” Yep, no more funny from the tragic situaiton. But hey, Manic Street Preachers can always go for something a little more… sad, eh? After all, it’s not always sunshine and butteflies… especially when the dope stops coming.

Oasis brothers’ extravagant concert preferences

Posted by Sam on 11th May 2009 in Concert Gig, Oasis, Rock

Noel and Liam Gallagher are apparently quite the divas when it comes to the dressing room stocks of their concerts. A source recently spilled the beans on what the two Oasis brothers have in their dressing room: “Liam and Noel have requested that their dressing room be supplied with herbal teas, fresh organic fruit, almonds, pine nuts, Cadbury’s chocolate and organic crisps. They also ask for fine china crockery and a linen tablecloth.” Quite the impressive requests for Noel and Liam Gallagher… I wonder how they came to require such extravagant luxuries before the shows. They weren’t probably having the same comforts before playing in The Feisty Goat in Manchester when they were starting out.

Bob Dylan’s duet with Paul McCartney wish:

Posted by Sam on 8th May 2009 in BOB DYLAN, Beatles, Paul McCartney, Rock

The singer recently stated his wishes of collaborating with the famous former Beatle musician. Bob Dylan said: “That would be exciting to do something with Paul. But you know your paths have to cross for something like that to make sense.” A source also added the following about a possible collaboration between Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney: “This would obviously be a major moment in musical history if Bob and Paul got together and it’s quite likely that Paul will be interested.” A major moment in musical history? The invention of the flute was a major moment in musical history… this is just a vague possibility of circumstance. Either way, Paul McCartney doesn’t seem to have any thoughts on the matter as of yet so revolutionizing musical history will probably have to wait for a bit.

Slash and American Idols Open the Show

Slash is back on the American Idol stage as he kicked off the show with an incredible group number set to Alice Cooper’s 1971 hit ‘School’s Out’. The former Guns N Roses guitarist was on lead guitar and once again, Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta dominated the vocals. Actually, you can forego the Idol hopefuls. I can listen to Slash playing his guitar all day and not get tired of it. The iconic rocker is coming out with a solo album soon. Just like Carlos Santana, he’s going to be featuring a lot of amazing singers to sing as he plays his guitar.

Rock Band 10 Years landed a Top 15 debut on Billboard

10-years-cd-cover.jpg

Universal Republic Records’ rock band 10 Years landed a Top 15 debut on Billboard’s Top Album chart this week, coming in at #12 with their new album Division. The new CD also grabbed the top spot on iTunes coveted rock page and currently sits at #7 on the Top Albums. It also garnered the #1 spot on the Top Hard Music Chart, #2 on the Top Alternative Album Chart and #3 on the Top Current Rock Album Chart rallied by their soaring hit single “Beautiful.” The single was launched at radio in early February and was the #1 Most Added single at Alternative and Active Rock radio.

The video for the new single has also garnered wide acclaim, with the clip taking a swipe at both celebrities and paparazzi in the current Gotcha game of celebrity journalism. 10 Years has also earned a place on one of 2008’s most anticipated summer tours, joining mega-rockers Linkin Park on their 5th annual rollout of the Projekt Revolution tour, which kicks off on July 16 at the Tweeter Center in Boston, MA. 10 Years will share the Revolution stage with multiple other bands on the raucous trek, including metal icons Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, and Armor For Sleep. The 24 city trek hits multiple major U.S. cities in July and August, including New York City on July 22, Washington DC on July 27, Atlanta on August 3, and Chicago on August 16, winding up in Houston Texas on August 24 for the final Projekt Revolution event at the Cynthia woods Mitchell Pavilion.

Critics have cited no let-down in the momentum10 Years established with the across-the-board fan response they received with their previous album The Autumn Effect, which spawned the hits “Wasteland” and “Through The Iris.” “Wasteland” was hailed by the rock, video, and digital world as one of the decade’s breakthrough rock singles, setting career highs for the band as it reigned for more than a year on the rock charts. The song notched the #4 spot on the year-end Active Rock chart, and pulled off a hat-trick of #1 citations at Active Rock, Billboard’s Modern Rock chart, and in the Alternative Rock format.

The new album, Division, was produced by acclaimed production veteran Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, Nickelback, Soundgarden. Rob Zombie, among others), and recorded during what the band
has described as ‘an intense creative process.’ Songs on Division include “Just Can’t Win,” “Drug of Choice,” “11:00AM (Daydreamer),” and “Focus,” among others. The latter song was co-written by guitarist Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots’ fame.

Formed in 2002, members of 10 Years are longtime friends, gaining notoriety with their independent release Killing All That holds You, and signing on with Universal Records in 2005.

Richie Sambora DUI

Posted by Sam on 30th March 2008 in Alcohol, Bon Jovi, Rock, Scandal

richie-sambora.jpg

It looks like another trip to rehab is in the future for one member of Bon Jovi. Richie Sambora has been arrested for drunk driving. The guitarist was arrested Tuesday night by Laguna Beach, California police on suspicion of DUI. Richie failed several field sobriety tests and was later brought in to get a breathalyzer test. He was cooperative but took the option to forego the breathalyzer and decided to take a blood test instead. The results of which are still pending but police are doubtful that he was on any drugs. Hopefully, this incident doesn’t land him in jail.

Daughtry is Sorry

Chris Daughtry

Well this one is quick. Someone should sock Chris Daughtry for selling out on his beliefs. The American Idol alum is doing damage control over his harsh criticism of the show which launched his career on his official blog. He opens by saying that he was just being honest but that he’s sorry. He also wrote that “if you heard the whole conversation you would’ve heard all the good things I said about the show as well… I was never trying to “DISS” the show or “BITE THE HAND THAT FED ME” so to speak. I was simply giving my input on what I think would spice the show up a bit.
Sorry for being honest.”

Timbaland leaked Madonna’s new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’

Madonna’s new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was the first to report that Timbaland leaked Madonna’s rumored new single ‘4 Minutes to Save the World’ and also even posted the track on the website. But it seems that the move has infuriated Madonna’s current record label Warner Bros. because Perez was told to take down the recording. They obliged of course. What’s one simple click of a mouse compared to millions due to a lawsuit?

Timbaland played the song in concert on Sunday night and now, audio and video recordings of the song are all over the internet. Someone may just get a stern talking to.

Hawthorne Heights Tragedy

Hawthorne Heights Tragedy - Casey Calvert

Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert was found dead on the band’s tour bus on Saturday just hours before they had a scheduled concert in Washington DC. The cause of death is still unknown but word is going around that Calvert’s asthma may have played a part.

The band has since posted a message on their website expressing their sadness and regret over losing their band mate and friend. They insist that Casey wasn’t doing anything illegal and they hope that for the sake of Casey and his family to not succumb to what gossip may spread.

My condolences go out to Casey’s family and the rest of Hawthorne Heights.

COHEED AND CAMBRIA TO HIT THE ROAD SUPPORTING LINKIN PARK

COHEED AND CAMBRIA Tour

Columbia Records is proud to announce that Coheed and Cambria will be supporting Linkin Park on all dates of their upcoming national tour. The tour goes from February 12 to March 10 and will be hitting 19 cities, including Madison Square Garden in New York. The dates come on the heels of Coheed’s successful sold-out 25-date national headlining tour that wrapped at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom on November 29, 2007.

In their live review of the Los Angeles show at The Wiltern, the “LA Times” raved:

“Self-indulgence is frequently seen as a crime in modern rock music, but without it there would have been no Led Zeppelin or ‘Sgt. Pepper,’ no Ziggy Stardust or System of a Down. Overreaching sometimes pays off. And few young bands reach further than the prog-metal act Coheed and Cambria, for whom the extremes of time and space hardly seem to be enough,” and concluded that the band had “epic sound and fury.”

Coheed are touring to support their fourth record, “No World for Tomorrow,” which debuted at #6 on the Billboard top 200, giving the band their highest debut in their career as well as its highest chart position. Radio continues to show huge support across the country for the album’s first single, “The Running Free” (charting on both Alternative and Active charts) while critical response to the album has been fantastic. Besides being highlighted in fall preview features in “New York” magazine, “USA Today” and the “New

York Times,” “Blender” magazine said that with the release of the new record, “Coheed have found their sweet spot.” David Fricke in “Rolling Stone” noted the band’s “impressive resolution in the decisive pop arc of the mutating riffs and slippery time signatures,” and concluded, “there is plenty worthy of rewind here.” “Revolver” gave the record four stars in their lead review and said that, “this record feels like the beginning of something new,” as it marks Coheed’s “ascent from the geek-metal underground to the heavy-music mainstream.”

Coheed and Cambria (Sanchez – vocals, guitar; Travis Stever – guitar; Mic Todd – bass) spent the first half of 2007 working on “No World for Tomorrow” in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour) and mixer Randy Staub (Metallica, Nickelback). Coheed recruited Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters to play drums on the record, while ex-Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie is now a permanent fixture in the band and has taken their live shows to new heights.

“No World For Tomorrow” has sold over 100,000 copies in four weeks, and the Linkin Park dates mark the first time the band has played in arenas.

The tour dates are as follows:

Jonas Brother Blog

Jonas Brother Blog

The Jonas Brothers took to the stage at the 2007 American Music Awards where Joe took a spill right at the top of their performance. Joe put up a blog about it recently and talked about what went on through the whole thing.

He said that after he fell, he saw the smiling faces of the fans and knew that he had to get up and go on with the show. Joe had so much fun performing that he didn’t even notice that he was bleeding until someone backstage pointed it out to him. And it seems that he got cut not only on his hands but on his leg too.

Does he feel no pain or what?
