Meet Lesley Roy – a 21 year old singer/ songwriter/ guitarist hailing from Balbriggan, Ireland. The Irish rocker discovered her passion for music at a young age, learning to play trumpet, saxophone and guitar all by age ten. Further inspired by her mother’s musical background, she began writing songs at fourteen and was well on the way to developing her advanced songwriting abilities.

Roy left the small suburb of Dublin after getting discovered by Jive Records and headed to New York City to begin crafting her album. She worked with plenty of industry heavyweights on the debut effort including Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson, Sugababes) and Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith). Her first single, “I’m Gone, I’m Going” was produced by Max Martin (Britney Spears, NSYNC) who also exec produced the album. With an array of supercharged guitar hooks and irresistible vocal melodies, “I’m Gone, I’m Going” will appeal to fans of Paramore, Kelly Clarkson, and more.

About her debut album, Roy says, “there are a couple of themes that run through the album, evolving around the many different aspects in relationships, whether it is loss of love, not wanting to be in love, trying to help a friend through their own issues…unrequited love and the happiness and excitement of being in love.” The self-proclaimed shy girl who sites Melissa Etheridge and U2 among her influences strives to connect with her fans through her painfully honest lyrics and cannot wait to rock out with her new material on stage.

Pete Doherty Away from General Population

Prison is a bitch, and if you’re not careful, you can become the prison bitch. The UK media is reporting that rocker Pete Doherty has been moved to a secure cell in jail and is no longer part of the general population. It’s not punishment for doing heroin behind bars though. It seems that Pete’s fellow prisoners want to give him a major beating. Maybe they got pissed that he’s getting special treatment from the guards or maybe they just figured out that his IOU’s for drugs were worthless. Either way, I still hope he turns his life around after this jail stint. I doubt it though. Maybe he does need that beating.

Slash warns Amy Winehouse off drugs

Slash has warned Amy Winehouse not to destroy her career with drugs.

The former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, a reformed alcoholic and drug abuser, thinks Amy should stay away from illegal substances if she wants to make the most of her incredible talent.

He said: “Amy’s cool, she’s carrying the torch for rock ‘n’ roll. I think she’s great, not so much because of her personal choices, but because she’s a fantastic singer with a unique sound and style. She’s on the verge of greatness, but it would be regrettable if her talent was overshadowed by her extra-curricular activities. She’s at a crossroads – I hope she makes the right decision.”

Although he is a huge fan of Amy, Slash isn’t so complimentary about today’s guitarists. He added: “It’s sad. There’s no identifiable guitar player in rock ‘n’ roll any more. With the exception of Jack White – who is great – the new breed of bands aren’t bringing out decent guitarists. Rock ‘n’ roll is so diluted at the moment, you just don’t hear good solos.”

Slash, 42, is regarded as one of the all-time great guitarists along with Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and Eric Clapton.
