John Mayer’s first single ‘Who Says’ off of his upcoming album doesn’t do much for me but the rumored second single is so much better. The song has recently surfaced and I really like it. Unlike the sparse and cutesy first single, ‘Heartbreak Warfare’ takes music lovers on much more of a sonic and emotional journey. The song may sound like a U2 rip off to most people but, let’s face it, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. What is it going on and going wrong with singers releasing duds for first singles these days? Shakira, Rihanna, John Mayer – who will be next?

Latina magazine is reporting that Shakira will be performing at the Barack Obama inauguration in January. The President-elect’s camps isn’t confirming or the denying the report but I’m inclined to believe it. Latina magazine did break the big news that Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon earlier this year so they’re more reliable than most magazines. Plus, when Shakira endorsed Obama back in October, Obama responded with “It’s an honor for me to receive support from someone with so much talent, from an artist who has been so generous.” There’s mutual love there so it wouldn’t be too big of a stretch for Shakira to perform for him.

Does Shakira get a new passport after every few weeks? It must be tough for the person on the passport desk to find the empty space on her passport in order to put more stamps on it.

The Columbian pop princess, Shakira is famous for her frequent and untiring travels around the globe. She was seen in New York City with her boyfriend, Antonio De La Rue, while sight seeing on the Upper East Side.

She was wearing a black track jacket over a black tank top with a pair of baggy black pants. The interesting part was that she was also wearing a pair of white sneakers with black laces.

Shakira also received The Humanitarian Award at the ALMA Awards 2008 last week.

Three of the world’s most iconic women – Madonna, Shakira and Marilyn Monroe, are all going to be featured in a new commercial and campaign for hair care expert Sunsilk. Using old stock footage, a commercial featuring the three will debut during the Super Bowl XLII. But if you can’t wait to check it out, a video has already leaked on YouTube. It’s all part of a new Sunsilk campaign called ‘Life Can’t Wait’ which has the goal of inspiring women all over the world to get up off of their couches and start living their lives to the fullest.

Now I’m just wondering – who’s collecting royalties for Marilyn?

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. And that’s what singer Shakira and her long-time boyfriend Antonio dela Rua did when they chose to spend a romantic holiday on Saturday in Rome. The lovely couple hired a guide to show them around the city. They saw Popolo Square, Campidoglio, the Forum ruins, the Pantheon, Hadrian’s Village and the Capitolini and Barberini Museums.

Shakira is a UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) Goodwill Ambassador and visited Bangladesh recently and met with women and children whose lives have been affected by Cyclone Sidr. She deserves the romantic vacation that she’s on.
