Rapper Gucci Mane was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday for violating his probation. Back n 2005, the entertainer pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to a year in jail last September since he failed to complete his court-mandated 600 hours of community service. Gucci ended up serving for 6 months. The rapper worked hard on his music after he got released and even took his career to the next level. After gaining huge popularity in the underground scene, Gucci had just started to appear in more mainstream music in songs by Mario, Omarion, Mariah Carey and 50 Cent. He even has a new single featuring Usher called ‘Spotlight’. Now, he’s going to have to put his career on hold again for jail time.

Leona Lewis has recently been tapped to perform at the Michael Jackson tribute show which is set to be held at London’s O2 Arena. The 24-year old British singer will reportedly be joined by the likes of Justin Timberlake, Usher and Ne-Yo in performances to honor the late King of Pop. The producers are even said to be talking about having a hologram of the iconic Michael projected onto the stage. A date for the tribute show has yet to be finalized but the promoters are hoping to put it on by the end of the summer. I wonder who else will be on the show and how many times it will be put on.

It’s long been rumored that the reason that Usher’s mom hates his wife Tameka Foster is because Usher fired mom in favor of the wifey. The R&B singer wants to clear that all up in the July issue of Vibe saying “My mother and I decided to change her situation, together. I decided to not fire, not get rid of but … to retire her to be a full-time grandmother.” I guess he was getting tired of being slammed about leaving his mom jobless to give his rumored gold digger wife a job. Me thinks he should have done this clearing up thing last year if he really wanted to save face.

R&B singer Usher Raymond and his pregnant wife Tameka Foster still don’t know if they’re having a girl or a boy but Usher is wishing and hoping for a son.

In a recent appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Usher reveals that if he gets his way, he’s naming the little tyke after himself. “I’m hoping to name him that. I’ve been playing with a few names. I’m the fourth. Usher Raymond IV. I just want to pass the name on. Maybe I’ll change the middle name.”

Raymond was scheduled to marry his fiancée Tameka Foster yesterday afternoon. The ceremony was to take place at the home of record executive L.A. Reid. For some reason the wedding never took place. It was mysteriously called off and nobody is certain why. Usher’s spokeswoman Patti Webster announced the cancellation earlier in the day. She also said that no further information was going to be released and that Usher asked for the respect of his privacy. Webster would not comment on whether or not the couple had split up. Foster is expecting Usher’s baby this fall. There is plenty of speculation surrounding Foster’s sister. She recently told the press that Tameka had once served time after becoming involved with a married drug dealer. It’s always nice to see family sell one another out in Hollywood. Apparently this was a secret Tameka had been trying to keep from Usher. I’m pretty sure they say you can’t start a marriage based on lies and secrets. Maybe it’s better to hold off on rushing commitments when you don’t really know all there is to know about each other.
