Steven Tyler returns to Aerosmith for Europe tour

Steven Tyler, 61, recently departed from Aerosmith, will return to tour with the US rock band in Europe this summer.

Tyler, whose future with the band became uncertain after an injury last year and reported conflict with guitarist Joe Perry, said of the upcoming tour: “I just auditioned and I got the gig!”

The tour will kick off in Sweden in June. Perry said. “We’re coming and everything is set at eleven.”

Aerosmith began to falter when Tyler fell off the stage in August, forcing the cancellation of a North America tour. He was spotted out afterward looking frail and erratic.

The BBC reports Tyler was admitted to a clinic last December to seek help for a painkiller addiction.

Perry, who reportedly felt Tyler sidelined the band, was seeking a replacement for him but Tyler is said to have vowed he would return to the band once his rehab was over.

Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer said: “We will carry on and do what we do best. The one common denominator that we still all have is that we all love to get up on stage and rock out, play music and bring joy to people. And we let the other drama, as of late, kind of filter itself out by the wayside and concentrate on more of what’s important, which is the playing and the business at hand.”

Aerosmith is Back

After reportedly being on the outs from Aerosmith and his band mate Joe Perry, lead singer Steven Tyler wrote of his excitement to headline the UK’s Download Festival in June with the band. The rock star said “In the early days of Aerosmith we were infected with the vibe coming out of the UK with the Yardbirds, Blues Breakers, Pretty Things and the Stones and we wanted what they had bad. So baby, we’re coming home. Rock & Roll can be pure sex and we can’t wait to Download…” I guess that the search is over for a replacement singer. While there has yet to be an official statement from their camp, drummer Joey Kramer went on Twitter to say “Aerosmith is Back!”

Lenny Kravitz Takes Over for Steven Tyler

With all the confirmations and denials of Aerosmith breaking up, former Geffen exec John Kaldoner, who’s responsible for the band’s 80s revival, is pushing the band to continue on without lead singer Steven Tyler and find a replacement. He thinks that the new front man should be Lenny Kravitz. John said “I was talking to Marty Frederickson about this because he co-wrote ‘Jaded’ and worked with them for 10 years or so. We were talking about how no one can replace Steven Tyler, but the only person he said – and I agreed with – that could even make Aerosmith anything would be Lenny Kravitz.” Joe Perry and Brad Whitford have confirmed that they are searching for a replacement but it’s unknown if they’re considering Lenny. Maybe they should do a reality show like ‘Rock Star: INXS’.

Steve Tyler ‘has not quit Aerosmith’

Contrary to reports, Steven Tyler has not quit the band Aerosmith.

The rocker, who was widely reported to have quit his 40-year partnership with the band’s lead guitarist Joe Perry after a bitter rift, now says he does not intend to leave.

Trade daily The Hollywood Reporter cited unnamed sources that said Tyler is expected to make an announcement soon saying he didn’t quit the band and doesn’t plan to.

Joe Perry said he and the band were “positively looking for a new singer to work with”. Perry’s announcement came on his Twitter page after several weeks of hints from both Tyler and Perry. Tyler’s bouts of illness had caused the American rockers to shelve the rest of a North American tour. Perry and Tyler had been feuding after being songwriting partners for 40 years.

The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, said the band’s affairs were complicated lately by the fact of separate management and legal teams kept by Perry and Tyler.

Aerosmith Moves Out

It really seems like Aerosmith is really over and done for. Joe Perry’s Guitar Hero bus and another white bus were spotted outside of the band’s recording studio in Massachusetts earlier this week. Equipment was being moved out of the studio all day. The guitarist has spoken that whether or not lead singer Steven Tyler has quit or is just taking a bit of a vacation, the band will go on with their music. I don’t care if he has a big ego. It just won’t be Aerosmith if Steven isn’t involved. Maybe they should just sit this out and just make a comeback when they’re 100.

The Show Goes on for Aerosmith

Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said that people can’t expect that their court ordered show in Hawaii in October to be as great as the rest of their concerts due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s injury. The band is obligated to perform though after losing a class action lawsuit due to a 2007 cancelled performance in Maui. Brandee Faria, the ringleader in the lawsuit says that “They know they can’t come out and do a 30-minute gig … because I’ll be there watching.” Mind you, Aerosmith just cancelled their tour back in August because Steven had a nasty fall and injured his shoulder.

Steven Tyler recalls zigging on a zagging stage

Steven Tyler is back on his feet after taking a topple on a South Dakota stage.

The Aerosmith frontman said: “I landed upside down, and after 20 stitches on the back of my head, and a broken left shoulder, I just want to say that I’m plain grateful that I didn’t break my neck!”

Tyler, 61, who was airlifted from the scene in Sturgis, recalled: “Tens of thousands of my biker buddies were ready to rock! [It was] one of the best shows we’ve played in a long time! The band was slammin’ and I was lovin’ every minute of it!”

But electrical problems ensued and Tyler fell during the band’s classic Love In An Elevator. “Well, I wasn’t gonna go hide under the big top and play ‘ROCK STAR’ and wait for everything to be fixed,” he said. “I wanted to go out to the crowd to continue the show, so, the train kept a-rollin’ and I ran out on the catwalk and grabbed my mic to finish the song.”

Explaining how it happened, he said: “I was doing the Tyler shuffle and then I zigged when I should have zagged. And I slipped, and as I live on the edge, I fell off the edge!”

He also thanked “all the doctors and nurses at the Rapid City Hospital for putting my Humpty Dumpty ass back together again.”

“And most of all … I want to thank the angel on my shoulder,” he said. “Looking forward to seeing all of you very soon.”

Aerosmith has recently announced plans to play a free concert for 8300 fans in Maui. But this is not exactly a handout because those fans were the ones that got burned after the band cancelled a 2007 show that didn’t give any refunds. Aerosmith cancelled the show after they got tapped to perform for some big wig executive. The angered fans tried to sue the group for lost costs but it seems that all will be forgiven if the concert, which is scheduled to take place in the fall after Aerosmith’s North American tour, takes place this time. Here’s to hoping no corporate luncheon happens at the same date.
