Jay-Z Signs the Ting Tings

Posted by Sam on 13th November 2009 in Jay Z.

The Ting Tings are set to begin production on their sophomore album and they will be getting some very influential help. The British indie band has just signed on to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label, in which the famed rapper will make their follow up to ‘We Started Nothing’ something to talk about. A source said “Jay is hoping to lend his production skills to some of the new material. The Staccato rhythmic style of The Ting Tings sits well with what he does best, so that was the attraction. Jay can make them one of the biggest British bands in America.” The members of the group, Katie White and Jules de Martino, are said to be thrilled but are homesick. It will be all worth it I’m sure.

Aerosmith Moves Out

Posted by Sam on 13th November 2009 in Aerosmith, Games

It really seems like Aerosmith is really over and done for. Joe Perry’s Guitar Hero bus and another white bus were spotted outside of the band’s recording studio in Massachusetts earlier this week. Equipment was being moved out of the studio all day. The guitarist has spoken that whether or not lead singer Steven Tyler has quit or is just taking a bit of a vacation, the band will go on with their music. I don’t care if he has a big ego. It just won’t be Aerosmith if Steven isn’t involved. Maybe they should just sit this out and just make a comeback when they’re 100.

The Jonas Brothers ended up cancelling their concert in Zurich last Saturday night because Nick Jonas got sick with an upper respiratory infection. The official announcement said “We are sad to announce the cancellation of the Jonas Brothers concert for this evening in Zurich. Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is ill with an upper respiratory infection of the nose and throat and the doctor has advised that he not speak or sing… The band, the management, and the promoter apologize that the show must be cancelled on such short notice… Tickets can be refunded as of Monday, 9 November until 31 December 2009 at the presale agency.”

Jonas Brothers Still Together

Posted by Sam on 30th October 2009 in Jonas Brothers, Music Artist, Music Bands

Despite Nick Jonas having some solo ambition, the Jonas Brothers have no intention of breaking up. In a letter to their fans, the band of brothers said “We plan to make music together for as long as we can.” Nick also wrote “We’ve said from the beginning of our career as the Jonas Brothers that anything we do outside of the group is a side project because you can’t break up brothers. My brothers are my biggest supporters, and were on the phone with me everyday while I was in the studio asking how it was going, and telling me they couldn’t wait to hear the record.” Joe and Kevin replied to that, saying “We are so proud of our brother Nick. We know that we will be doing music together for the rest of our lives. But we are thrilled for you to hear these songs that were on his heart.” Aww.

U2 Announces More Tour Dates

Posted by Sam on 30th October 2009 in Concert, Concerts Tour, U2, WORLD TOUR

As reported last month, even though U2 had been selling out concerts, the band has yet to make any profits due to the high cost of production. According to projections, U2 won’t break even until they’re done with the North American leg of their tour this month. The group is now trying to break even with the tour by adding more dates. They will make their return to North America when they perform at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on June 6th net year. The band will end with their European tour next October, performing their final show in Portugal. Good luck getting tickets though because they are selling out fast!

Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher said he is planning to set up his own band

Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher said he is planning to set up his own band.

The 37-year-old was a member of the Britpop band until band member and brother Noel, 42, walked out.

Talking about his future plans, he said: “I don’t want to do anything solo. I want to be in a band. But we can do things a lot differently these days. It’ll definitely be rock ‘n roll.

“I’m always going to miss Oasis. It was MY thing. It’s who I am. But it’s only a name. I’m still who I am and I can go and do something else. It might be **** but you don’t know until you try.

Liam’s fall-out with brother Noel is still going on and he said: “I gave Noel some of my Pretty Green clothes out of courtesy.

“And he took it, which ****** me off ‘cos he should have threw it back in my face ‘cos we weren’t talking. But he took it and he probably put it in the bin.

“Or he probably wears it round his house when his missus is out. Soon as she comes back in, he probably takes it off because he’s not allowed as he’s under the thumb.”

U2 Concert to Stream Live on YouTube

Posted by Sam on 23rd October 2009 in Concert, U2, YouTube, live, video

U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.

The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360˚ Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited – its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.

U2 manager Paul McGuinness said – “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.”

YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and You Tube.

“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” – Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Spare Change for Creed

Posted by Sam on 16th October 2009 in Concert, Creed

Creed’s big comeback tour has officially crashed and burned – even if it never really took off to begin with. A notice went out to anyone looking to attend the band’s Birmingham, Alabama concert this Friday saying that the tickets are now on sale for just 75 cents! Add a couple more bucks and you’d get yourself some food too. The surcharge to the ticketing distribution company cost more than the actual ticket does. Ha! Start digging through those couch cushions and car seats for some spare change. I’m sure you’ve all got the money somewhere. Or you can save it for laundry day and wait until just before the show. They’ll let people in for free by then.

Wolfmother Cosmic Egg Album Premiere

Posted by Sam on 16th October 2009 in Album, Widget, Wolfmother, song

If there was ever a question of what would come of Wolfmother after the departure of two founding members then now is the time to stop asking and start listening. Wolfmother has just unveiled their entire forthcoming album, Cosmic Egg, on MySpace and with each track a nail in the coffin of the past is hammered further in resulting in a full blown rock explosion into the present. When describing the new Wolfmother Kerrang! said the band, “have exceeded expectation, proving themselves modern masters of riff-centered, bass-heavy bong rock alchemy. Almost every track contains something fresh and off kilter while remaining immediate and throat-grabbing at the same time.”

Cosmic Egg arrives October 27th, and features the single “New Moon Rising.” For more information on Wolfmother, and where you can catch them on tour, visit www.Wolfmother.com and listen to Cosmic Egg now at MySpace.com

Alice in Chains talk with Metallica about new album

Posted by Sam on 16th October 2009 in Album, Alice In Chains, Metallica, song, video

Today, and for the next 3 weeks, AOL’s Noisecreep.com will be releasing an exclusive and/or unheard audio clip from the amazing FMQB Metallica/Alice in Chains interview, “Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.” This week’s clip features Metallica talking to Alice in Chains about their collaboration with Elton John on the song “Black Gives Way To Blue.” “It’s a really intense song, and a really open-hearted song to Layne and the experience that we went through,” Cantrell says to Hetfield and Ulrich about the title track. “Facing up to all of that stuff, and owning all the good, and owning all the bad, and moving forward together. It was a lot of big steps…things were pretty black for us. It’s pretty literal to that, and things are starting to get a little lighter.” Keep checking back in the coming weeks for parts 2 and 3 of this classic interview.

Nicole Scherzinger on Phantom of the Opera 2

Posted by Sam on 13th October 2009 in Nicole Scherzinger, Pussycat Dolls

Apparently, Pussycat Dolls band member Nicole Scherzinger may be joining the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’ sequel in the West End Next year. If it’s true and the singer has been cast, it’s the weirdest casting choice I’ve ever heard of. ‘Love Never Dies’ is set 10 years after the original ‘Phantom of the Opera’ on Coney Island in 1919. Nicole was said to be talking about the musical at a party in Las Vegas a few weeks back. We all know that the girl can sing. I’m just not all too sure of her acting skills.

U2 keen to follow The Beatles with their own Rock Band game

Posted by Sam on 8th October 2009 in Bono, Games

Irish band U2 are keen to follow The Beatles and have their own Rock Band game.

It is claimed that lead singer Bono and the rest of the band held talks with MTV and Electronic Arts last year over the plan, but no deals were struck because of “compromises” that were not agreed, according to bassist Adam Clayton.

However, since The Beatles: Rock Band was released, Adam said that the U2 game might still go ahead.

He told USA Today: “We definitely would like to be in there. But we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted. That could change.

“I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out.”

Pussycat Dolls on Break

Posted by Sam on 30th September 2009 in Music, Music Bands, Pussycat Dolls

For some time now, rumors have been going around that the Pussycat Dolls were breaking up. Well, the time has come for the music group to talk of a much needed break. Band member Melody Thornton confirmed that they were taking some time off from each other but assures fans that they will get back together soon. The singer said “Yeah, we’re taking a break. No, [we're not broken up] … everybody keeps saying that, but it’s like, let me see who took a break? Dave Chappelle. Remember when Dave Chappelle took that break? OK, maybe Dave Chappelle’s a bad example. What about, like, Hootie and the Blowfish?” Someone needs to get more familiar with pop culture during her break.

Entertainment Weekly

People Magazine

“…fans will likely swoon over …” whose “strongest tracks include the power ballads ‘Where Are You Now’ and ‘Goodnight My Love’ both showcasing Bruno’s emotive tenor. ‘My Own Way’ is an infectious pop-rocker.”

Dallas Morning News

Honor Society are “purveyors of that frenetic catchy-crunchy pop sound of the day…”

The Show Goes on for Aerosmith

Posted by Sam on 28th September 2009 in Aerosmith, singer

Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said that people can’t expect that their court ordered show in Hawaii in October to be as great as the rest of their concerts due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s injury. The band is obligated to perform though after losing a class action lawsuit due to a 2007 cancelled performance in Maui. Brandee Faria, the ringleader in the lawsuit says that “They know they can’t come out and do a 30-minute gig … because I’ll be there watching.” Mind you, Aerosmith just cancelled their tour back in August because Steven had a nasty fall and injured his shoulder.

New Kris Allen

Posted by Sam on 25th September 2009 in American Idol, Kanye West, Kris Allen

American Idol champ Kris Allen has released his new single ‘Live like We’re Dying’ off of the singer’s as yet untitled album which is scheduled to come out on November 17. Let me say this – I am quite sure that this is going to be a smash hit! The song is actually a cover from the Irish pop rock band The Script. Just like Kris did with Kanye West’s song ‘Heartless’, he totally sang the cover song as if it was it was written for him to sing. Honestly, he’s the only one I know who can make a cover sound totally original.

Jay-Z Loves Coldplay

Posted by Sam on 24th September 2009 in Chris Martin, Coldplay, Concert, Jay Z.

The Jay-Z and Coldplay tour hit up Wembley Stadium in London last weekend and the rapper ambushed his good friend Chris Martin with a hug while the band’s lead singer was playing the piano. A concertgoer said “It was a strange moment. Everyone went wild when Jay-Z joined the boys on stage but seeing him grab Chris away from the piano and onto the floor was a bit weird to say the least.” The two then rolled around on the stage floor for some time before Jay-Z let Chris continue on with the show. I wonder if anyone was able to get a video of this.
