Nirvana Live At Reading To Premeir On Fuse

Posted by Sam on 23rd October 2009 in Album, CD, DVD, Nirvana, video

On November 2 at 11 p.m. ET, Fuse, the national music network, will televise the worldwide premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, the band’s legendary, never-before-released 1992 Reading concert. The show, marking the first time that Nirvana fans will experience the epochal August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at UK’s Reading Festival, will debut as an hour long broadcast the night before the limited edition 90 minute CD+DVD Deluxe Edition is by Geffen/UMe.

Featuring 25 songs including “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “All Apologies” and “Come As You Are,” Nirvana’s performance at Reading ranked No. 1 in Kerrang Magazine’s “100 Gigs That Shook The World” chart and was voted as “Nirvana’s No. 1 Greatest Moment” by fans in a recent NME poll.

“Fuse is excited to provide Nirvana fans with the first opportunity to witness this historic music event since the concert 17 years ago,” said David Weier, vice president, programming, Fuse. “Not only are we airing a highly anticipated, never-before-seen concert in more than 65 million homes, we are providing Nirvana’s loyal fan base with companion programming for a comprehensive and unique viewing experience.”

Leading up to the premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, Fuse will air “Loaded: Nirvana,” a half-hour of Nirvana’s greatest music videos at 10 p.m. ET, followed by “Videos That Rocked the World: Smells Like Teen Spirit,” a celebration of the legendary music video which was a breakthrough for music, entertainment, culture and society.

While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “Tourettes.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-’80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound– “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7″ by The Wipers.

Ashley Tisdale’s Music is Influenced by Her Hair

Posted by Sam on 13th August 2009 in Ashley Tisdale, Fashion, New Album

Ashley Tisdale recently talked to Us Weekly about her new album ‘Edgy’. The actress and singer talked about how she found her new sound for her latest CD, saying “My music was more inspired by my hair color! After 5 years of blonde, I went back to my original color. It made my music edgier.” That’s probably the most shallow reason I’ve ever heard. And what is with singer’s changing hair colors for the new albums anyway? Ashley, Katherine McPhee – who’s next? And really, it’s not such a positive message that you’re changing your image to present something else that may not really be who you are.

Michael Jackson is Top Selling Artist of 2009

Posted by Sam on 20th July 2009 in Michael Jackson, Top Music Chart

We’ve only just passed the middle of the year but it looks like Michael Jackson may posthumously become 2009’s top selling artist. Since the King of Pop’s sudden death, the singer’s record sales have skyrocketed. According to industry website Hits Daily Double, Sony Music has shipped over 8 million CDs globally since Michael died. Mind you, that count still doesn’t include downloads. Prior to Michael’s death, Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ dominated the charts. And the King is sure to live on as there will certainly be “repackaged titles, possibly some previously unreleased material and the DVDs of the concert rehearsals” to follow.

Beyonce Lawsuit

Posted by Sam on 23rd June 2009 in Beyonce, New Album, New CD DVD

Beyonce is mad and she’s waving a lawsuit in the air to prove it. The singer is going after a couple of unknown suspects for hawking bootlegged goods outside her concerts. Er, how is that going to work if she doesn’t know who to sue exactly? Beyonce filed the lawsuit in New York, against John Does, to stop selling knock off CDs and merchandise, especially outside her Madison Square Garden concert. Yeah, good luck with that. You would think that she would just be smart about it and have extra security to check every suspicious looking guy instead of suing people she doesn’t even know the names of.
