Jay-Z’s Security Shoves Fan Off Stage

Jay-Z’s security team made quick work of a stage crasher during the rapper’s concert in Washington DC last week by bull rushing the guy off of the stage before the fan even knew what hit him. Jay and Memphis Bleek were in the middle of a performance when everything went down and continued rapping as their bodyguard sent the stage crasher flying off. A security guard on the ground tried to catch the guy but both just ended up taking a nasty fall. Here’s to hoping that no one ends up getting slapped with a lawsuit. Though the guards were in the right by getting him off the stage, I’m just not sure if brute force was the best way.

Jay-Z finally sits down with the president

After so many wasted opportunities and declined invitations, it seems Jay-Z finally found the time in his busy schedule to go and have a chat with president Barrack Obama. It probably wasn’t the lunch the president was hoping for, but Jay-Z was probably pretty strapped for time since he was just in the neighborhood so to speak as he had a concert in Washington DC. Of course the fact that the meeting was brief didn’t stop Jay-Z from telling his concert audience that he finally got to have a chat with one of his biggest fans, President Barrack Obama. There’s a real ham for you!

No Gunfire at Beyonce Concert

Contrary to prior reports, no gunfire erupted at Beyonce’s concert in Brazil. The 28-year old R&B singer allegedly ended her show early last week due to gunshots but it has recently been confirmed that those reports were completely false. Beyonce played to record crowds on her recent tour in Brazil, without incident, including an audience of 60,000 in Sao Paulo and two sold out shows in Rio. I wonder what started the whole gunshot rumors. Oh well, I’m glad that the reports are false and that there are no fugitive gun bearers out on the streets of Brazil. It kind of makes you feel safer.

Mariah Carey’s Fans are Up in Arms

Mariah Carey may want to rethink her concert set list because even her fans that she cares about so much are starting to get cranky. According to an insider, the singer is charging up to $325 per ticket while she’s on tour, with a relatively short set list. On top of showing up late to every concert date, the diva has reportedly cut three more songs for the past two dates, including the fan favorite ‘Emotions’. Her set list now consists of a paltry thirteen songs and a very short concert experience. The source also said that even her fan club, who never complains about Mariah’s antics, are up in arms.

Huge Music Event on 10-10-10

I’m not sure exactly what will be going down, I don’t know who’s going to be there and I’m not entirely sure what it’s even really called. However, 10-10-10 actually works for me. It’s recently been reported that something big will be happening in music on October 10th, 2010. The event is said to be so epic that it will appear on all three major music networks, MTV, VH1 and CMT. The only hint that sources have given is that the event will be “highlighting the top artists of the decade as selected by the viewer”. That could be anything! It could be a tribute concert, an awards show or even just a countdown. I wonder what it really is.

Lady Gaga Gives to Haiti

Lady Gaga is looking to give back to the unfortunate victims of the tragedy in Haiti. The princess of pop has promised that all of the proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise sold at her concert in New York will all go to Haiti. I repeat, every cent will go to Haiti! The singer also went on her Twitter to address her fans, saying “Save your money. Help save a life.” It’s one of the best ways to give back. Not only do you get to help Haiti but you also get to see Lady Gaga rock it out on stage.

Lady GaGa’s concert tragedy

It looks like Lady GaGa has been pushing herself a wee too much lately as she was forced to cancel a concert in Indiana recently due to exhaustion and dehydration. Of course, Lady GaGa was not the happiest bunny after this as she herself related on twitter: “I’ve been crying for hours, I feel like I let my fans down 2nite. An hour before the show, I was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing.(sic) Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular – a result of exhaustion and dehydration. I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort.” Aw, isn’t that sweet! Lady GaGa’s fans must be all excited about now. Surely the show will be rescheduled… it’s the least her promoters could do.

The Reverend Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas is organizing a protest against Lady Gaga as he declares that God hates the princess of pop. He has released a statement riddled with malice and bigotry, calling the singer a whore and a “slut… seducing a generation of rebels into joining her in fist-raised, stiff-necked, hard-hearted rebellion.” His full statement asks followers to join him in protest and picket Lady Gaga’s concert in St. Louis on January 7th. Someone definitely didn’t get his fair share of the holiday spirit but that’s still no excuse to hate on Lady Gaga.

Kid Cudi’s punch gets appreciated

This rapper should be an example to all of his colleagues: this is how you use celebrity status to your advantage. Apparently, while Kid Cudi was having a concert in Vancouver, one of the participants, Michael Sharpe, kept throwing a wallet on stage because it didn’t belong to him. Kid Cudi interpreted this as an insult and went ahead and punched his own fan, who took it very lightly though. This is what Michael Sharpe said about the incident: “I’m not upset, I’m not going to be that person. I just want to meet him and be like ‘I’m the guy you punched.’ I’m not going to press charges.” That’s how it should be done! Kid Cudi should really give lessons to all of those violent people who pick on the poor paparazzi as to how to handle the situation properly… and extend a big thank you basket to his fan for being a good sport.

Stars Rake it In for New Year’s

It seems that there are a couple of celebrities who will be worth a pretty penny come New Year’s Eve because they will be starting off 2010 with some major cash going into their pockets. Rihanna will be collecting a royal fee of half a million dollars to perform at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi. It would mark the singer’s first concert in the Middle East. A source said “She was supposed to perform back in May [in Abu Dhabi], but she cancelled in the aftermath of the assault. This is a make-up date.” The Barbadian babe isn’t the only one rolling in dough though as Alicia Keys is getting paid $250,000 to throw a holiday concert in New York City. Happy New Year indeed!

Jonas Brothers Cancels Concert

The Jonas Brothers ended up cancelling their concert in Zurich last Saturday night because Nick Jonas got sick with an upper respiratory infection. The official announcement said “We are sad to announce the cancellation of the Jonas Brothers concert for this evening in Zurich. Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is ill with an upper respiratory infection of the nose and throat and the doctor has advised that he not speak or sing… The band, the management, and the promoter apologize that the show must be cancelled on such short notice… Tickets can be refunded as of Monday, 9 November until 31 December 2009 at the presale agency.”

Beyonce Being Slammed in Egypt

Beyonce is soon going to perform in Northern Africa for the first time and Islamic conservatives in Egypt are slamming her concert as an “insolent sex party” that threatens the country’s “social peace and stability” and encourages “vice and debauchery”. Some lawmakers are protesting the show, calling for a governmental ban on the singer’s so-called nudity concert. A Facebook campaign in support of the conservatives stand is actually at 10,000 members. The show will go on though. Beyonce will perform at the Red Sea Resort of Port Ghalib, 100 miles south of Cairo, and security will be tight to protect not only the singer but the fans as well.

It seems the singer’s performing plans have once again become trapped by the incessant ramblings of religious men. Beyonce apparently wants to embark upon a noble quest: performing in Egypt. She’s never been there before, but it doesn’t look like she’s going to be welcomed with open arms. Some Islamic conservatives think that Beyonce’s concert is a godless procession of carnal pleasures… actually, there are quite a few of them. But Byonce, brave soul that she is, will go through with her concert. Let’s see just how conservative these people are, if the show sells out, then there might just be a few extra fireworks.

Britney Spears gets law idea for Australia

Well, the singer didn’t actually come up with the idea for the law, per say, but she really did give the Australians something to think about. It seems there is a new project of a law in Australia that will require all performers to declare beforehand if they are going to be lip-synching on a concert or not. This new idea comes after Britney Spears is asking for 1500 dollars for a ticket and everybody knows dear Britney Spears can’t be bothered to really sing live anymore. So, it seems Australia is taking the arts one step further… good for them! No pop artist is ever going to go to Australia anymore under these circumstances… aces!

U2 Announces More Tour Dates

As reported last month, even though U2 had been selling out concerts, the band has yet to make any profits due to the high cost of production. According to projections, U2 won’t break even until they’re done with the North American leg of their tour this month. The group is now trying to break even with the tour by adding more dates. They will make their return to North America when they perform at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on June 6th net year. The band will end with their European tour next October, performing their final show in Portugal. Good luck getting tickets though because they are selling out fast!
