The Game Doesn’t Want to be a Gangster

The Game doesn’t want to be referred to as a gangster rapper anymore. It’s not because he’s changing careers though but because he’s trying to win a court case. The rapper’s legal move is part of a lawsuit that was filed against him back in 2008 in which he is being sued for allegedly punching a guy during a basketball game and then pulling a gun on him. In the new documents, The Game is asking that judge to nix all references to him being a gangster or gangster rapper during the trial because he’s scared if would prejudice the jury against him. He also doesn’t want any lyrics of his read during the trial because they contain violence and profanity.

Jay-Z’s Security Shoves Fan Off Stage

Jay-Z’s security team made quick work of a stage crasher during the rapper’s concert in Washington DC last week by bull rushing the guy off of the stage before the fan even knew what hit him. Jay and Memphis Bleek were in the middle of a performance when everything went down and continued rapping as their bodyguard sent the stage crasher flying off. A security guard on the ground tried to catch the guy but both just ended up taking a nasty fall. Here’s to hoping that no one ends up getting slapped with a lawsuit. Though the guards were in the right by getting him off the stage, I’m just not sure if brute force was the best way.

Gene Simmons Rips into Accuser

Gene Simmons is lashing out at the couple accusing him of being a violent, choke artist – claiming he was the one who was accosted by a “tall, thin, tattooed” aggressor. It’s all due to an incident outside of a movie theater in LA back in December, in which the KISS front man claims that he was walking with his family when Nathaniel Marlowe and Cynthia Manzo “jumped at them and started yelling in their faces”. Days after the incident, the couple filed a lawsuit against Gene, claiming assault, battery, emotional distress and more. However, Gene’s camp says that the accusers are simply opportunistic and riddled with distortions and false accusations.

Garth Brooks is suing a hospital

You would expect this to be something only a low-life scumbag would do… and yet, here is country legend and Las Vegas superstar Garth Brooks filling a lawsuit of a half-million dollars against a hospital in Oklahoma. Why? Well, apparently Garth Brooks gave them boys a substantial amount of money with which to build a new facility in honor of his mother who died of cancer. And it looks like them boys used it on renovating… so Garth Brooks wants his money back! No doubt, so he can donate it to another hospital that will use it in other purposes rather than those intended and so on and so forth: the cycle of life continues!

Travis Barker Settles Crash Lawsuit

Travis Barker recently settled the lawsuit against defendants Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear Tire & Rubber and Global Exec Aviation among others. The lawsuit stemmed from the jet crash that left him with severe injuries and four dead. The terms of their settlhttp://www.beattrend.com/wp-admin/post.php?action=edit&post=3249&message=6ement are confidential, the drummer and the defendants struck a deal during a mediation session on November 18th as did Thelma Still, the mother of Travis’ bodyguard, Che Still. DJ AM’s estate are also suing for wrongful death as they fell that the accident led to his overdose in August which ultimately resulted in the entertainer’s death. The case is still pending.

Pitbull Lawsuit

Pitbull’s song ‘Hotel Room Service’ is a pretty popular song but I’m not sure if the acoustics are so important that the rapper would allegedly bail on a gig if you don’t have the right sound equipment. According to a new lawsuit filed by the El Potrero Night Club in Cudahy, California, Pitbull got paid $28,000 for a concert back in May 14. The owners of the club say that the rapper showed up on the day of the gig and complained about the sound equipment and then left four hours before he was supposed to go on. The owners of the club say that Pitbull went off with the money and claims that there was a total loss of $80,000 from the last minute cancellation.

DMX Lawsuit

DMX is currently facing a lawsuit for a million dollars brought on to him by Thunder Productions for pulling out of a highly publicized boxing match with actor Eric Martinez. The rapper cancelled earlier this month when the promotion company refused to honor the clause in his contract which stated “Event Promoter and Management agree that (DMX) is scheduled to win Boxing Challenge.” In the meantime, Thunder Productions have found a replacement for DMX in the December 12th fight – his fellow washed up rapper, Coolio. Are people seriously paying to watch this thing? It is so much like a rip off to me.

Taylor Swift Lawsuit

Taylor Swift wants a piece of justice after a sting operation in Idaho revealed that a little sports bar was cheating her out of money. The country singer attached herself to a copyright infringement lawsuit spearheaded by BMI, the enforcer of music royalties. According to a lawyer connected to the case, BMI deployed an agent to go on a recon mission at The Sports Cellar bar some time last year, and the agent noticed that the bar was playing music, including Taylor’s, that they hadn’t paid for the right to play. Taylor and company are suing for unspecified damages. But compared to the millions she’s raking in, the Idaho thing is just change.

Jennifer Lopez Lawsuit

After attempting to write and produce a mockumentary about their relationship and release some sexy home videos of his ex-wife, Ojani Noa just got slapped with a lawsuit from Jennifer Lopez. The singer/actress has filed a multi-million dollar suit against her ex and another defendant, Ed Myer, for marketing the proposed feature. Should a mockumentary and the home videos get released, it is in clear violation of the settlement agreement that contained non-disparagement and non-disclosure clauses. Plus, it’s very tacky and such a douche bag move. JLo is suing both guys for no less than $10 million. I’m pretty sure that she’s going to win this one.

Another Michael Jackson Lawsuit

AllGood Entertainment is now after Michael Jackson’s estate in the battle over profits from the upcoming movie ‘This is It’, along with revenues from the Sony catalog. The company is suing for over $300 million. AllGood previously filed a lawsuit against the King of Pop, AEG Live and Frank Dileo for $40 million when the singer was still alive. Now the company filed an amended suit which includes the estate of Michael with the original defendants still named in the amended suit. AllGood sued because it claims that Dileo acted as Michael’s agent and agreed to a Jackson family reunion concert that got torpedoed when the London concerts were booked.

The Show Goes on for Aerosmith

Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said that people can’t expect that their court ordered show in Hawaii in October to be as great as the rest of their concerts due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s injury. The band is obligated to perform though after losing a class action lawsuit due to a 2007 cancelled performance in Maui. Brandee Faria, the ringleader in the lawsuit says that “They know they can’t come out and do a 30-minute gig … because I’ll be there watching.” Mind you, Aerosmith just cancelled their tour back in August because Steven had a nasty fall and injured his shoulder.

Pitbull Lawsuit

Rapper Pitbull is being slapped with a lawsuit by an Australian promoter for failing to abide by their agreed contract. That’s the one where he said that he would show up for a tour in 2008 but he didn’t. Suave Promotions released a statement saying “It is with great regret that Suave Productions and Don Juan Entertainment announce that Armando Christian Perez aka Mr 305, Pitbull is being sued for the failed Australian Tour in December 2008.” Suave representative Jamie Hernandez continued, saying “…We did everything we could to make him happy, sometimes even going that extra mile in order to meet his demands. But yet he still refused to get on the plane. Not only that, he also failed to notify that he wasn’t coming & also kept half the money for doing nothing at all.”

Beyonce is mad and she’s waving a lawsuit in the air to prove it. The singer is going after a couple of unknown suspects for hawking bootlegged goods outside her concerts. Er, how is that going to work if she doesn’t know who to sue exactly? Beyonce filed the lawsuit in New York, against John Does, to stop selling knock off CDs and merchandise, especially outside her Madison Square Garden concert. Yeah, good luck with that. You would think that she would just be smart about it and have extra security to check every suspicious looking guy instead of suing people she doesn’t even know the names of.

Britney Spears Sued by Former Bodyguard

Britney Spears is being sued by her former bodyguard. Kerry Vine has decided to file a lawsuit against the recovered pop star, claiming to have sustained physical injuries while working for the singer. Court documents filed recently state that Britney “negligently operated her home and business thereby causing injuries to” the bodyguard. He also claims that the security firm he used to work for was responsible for forcing him to “perform duties that put him in harm’s way.” I smell something fishy about this suit. If you really thought you were going to get hurt, you can quit – or at the very least speak out about it and ask for things to change.

Aerosmith for Free

Aerosmith has recently announced plans to play a free concert for 8300 fans in Maui. But this is not exactly a handout because those fans were the ones that got burned after the band cancelled a 2007 show that didn’t give any refunds. Aerosmith cancelled the show after they got tapped to perform for some big wig executive. The angered fans tried to sue the group for lost costs but it seems that all will be forgiven if the concert, which is scheduled to take place in the fall after Aerosmith’s North American tour, takes place this time. Here’s to hoping no corporate luncheon happens at the same date.
