This Is It director Kenny Ortega has revealed what Michael Jackson last said to the crew as he told them “this is the dream”.
The 59-year-old director was working with Jacko on his 50 London shows when he passed away in June and he has since created the movie This Is It out of 80 hours of footage from working on the shows.
Talking about their last meeting, he said to MTV News: “Michael stood out in front of the stage that night with me and looked up at the rehearsal and said: ‘This is the dream. We did it good, Kenny, We did it. Very good’.
“There was this anticipation of tomorrow, this anticipation of London and this great feeling about what we’d accomplished over the past couple of nights.
“He told me he was happy. He had nothing creatively or critically to say to anyone other than: ‘I love you, thank you, everyone’s doing a great job and I’ll see you tomorrow’.”
As reported last month, even though U2 had been selling out concerts, the band has yet to make any profits due to the high cost of production. According to projections, U2 won’t break even until they’re done with the North American leg of their tour this month. The group is now trying to break even with the tour by adding more dates. They will make their return to North America when they perform at Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on June 6th net year. The band will end with their European tour next October, performing their final show in Portugal. Good luck getting tickets though because they are selling out fast!

Creed’s big comeback tour has officially crashed and burned – even if it never really took off to begin with. A notice went out to anyone looking to attend the band’s Birmingham, Alabama concert this Friday saying that the tickets are now on sale for just 75 cents! Add a couple more bucks and you’d get yourself some food too. The surcharge to the ticketing distribution company cost more than the actual ticket does. Ha! Start digging through those couch cushions and car seats for some spare change. I’m sure you’ve all got the money somewhere. Or you can save it for laundry day and wait until just before the show. They’ll let people in for free by then.
Nobody thought that she could do it, but after 83 shows, Britney Spears had her two final concerts on North American Circus tour in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay this past weekend. The pop star has done it and she didn’t cancel any performances! It’s being said that the singer won’t be performing again for a very long time. After Vegas, Britney is heading down under for 6 shows in Australia and then the tour is over. It’s said to see the end but with her next single ‘3’ already out, every Britney fan can get their fix of the pop star.
Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry said that people can’t expect that their court ordered show in Hawaii in October to be as great as the rest of their concerts due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s injury. The band is obligated to perform though after losing a class action lawsuit due to a 2007 cancelled performance in Maui. Brandee Faria, the ringleader in the lawsuit says that “They know they can’t come out and do a 30-minute gig … because I’ll be there watching.” Mind you, Aerosmith just cancelled their tour back in August because Steven had a nasty fall and injured his shoulder.
The Jay-Z and Coldplay tour hit up Wembley Stadium in London last weekend and the rapper ambushed his good friend Chris Martin with a hug while the band’s lead singer was playing the piano. A concertgoer said “It was a strange moment. Everyone went wild when Jay-Z joined the boys on stage but seeing him grab Chris away from the piano and onto the floor was a bit weird to say the least.” The two then rolled around on the stage floor for some time before Jay-Z let Chris continue on with the show. I wonder if anyone was able to get a video of this.

After acting like a disrespectful douche bag towards Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Kanye West took to his blog twice to apologize to the country singer. The rapper then continued his tour of contrition during his appearance on Jay Leno’s new talk show on NBC last Monday. Kanye apologized once again and said that he needed to take some time off. I think he needs to check himself into rehab if he was chugging down a bottle of Hennessy like what he did at the ceremony. Hopefully, the time off that he was talking about wouldn’t affect his upcoming co-headlining tour with Lady Gaga.
An official Susan Boyle tour of her hometown may be in the pipeline.
A councillor in Blackburn has said they are thinking about organising tours of the town.
Councillor Martyn Day said: “We have noticed there is a huge volume of interest in Blackburn, in Susan Boyle and the surrounding areas. Without a doubt there certainly are people coming to the area.”
He added: “If there’s a genuine demand, which there appears to be, perhaps we have to look at that. Susan Boyle has put Blackburn on the global map.”
The 47-year-old singer rose to fame on the TV show Britain’s Got Talent.
Blink 182 has cancelled a couple more shows with their touring partners Weezer and Taking Back Sunday as the band continues to mourn the loss of their friend, DJ AM. A representative for Weezer revealed that the concert in Cleveland last week was cancelled while, for Thursday’s St. Louis show, Taking Back Sunday guitarist Eddie Reyes went on Twitter to say that he was in his home state and that he wouldn’t be getting back to the tour until the weekend. I know how important it is to have a time to grieve but Blink 182 also needs to take care of their fans. I hope they already have plans for a refund or to reschedule the shows.
Rapper Pitbull is being slapped with a lawsuit by an Australian promoter for failing to abide by their agreed contract. That’s the one where he said that he would show up for a tour in 2008 but he didn’t. Suave Promotions released a statement saying “It is with great regret that Suave Productions and Don Juan Entertainment announce that Armando Christian Perez aka Mr 305, Pitbull is being sued for the failed Australian Tour in December 2008.” Suave representative Jamie Hernandez continued, saying “…We did everything we could to make him happy, sometimes even going that extra mile in order to meet his demands. But yet he still refused to get on the plane. Not only that, he also failed to notify that he wasn’t coming & also kept half the money for doing nothing at all.”
Due to a diagnosed ear infection, Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger is unable to travel or to perform, forcing the rest of the group to cancel the first three shows of their upcoming tour with the Black Eyed Peas. I’m sure the other girls aren’t thrilled. I guess the people in charge don’t think that any of the other girls are good enough to fill in for Nicole. But what’s this? Pussycat Dolls’ management recently released a statement saying that the group wasn’t even asked to tour with the BEPs, Nicole doesn’t have an ear infection and that she’s in Europe on holiday. Just cut to the chase. I don’t think we’ll be seeing more of the Dolls anytime soon or ever again.
Legendary country music duo Brooks & Dunn are said to be over and done. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have recently announced that it’s the time for them to leave the country music scene and that they will be calling it quits after a 2010 farewell tour. The duo said in a statement “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time to call it a day. This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed…. We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time.” Brooks & Dunn are now preparing for their final tour, The Last Rodeo Tour, and the release of their greatest hits collection ‘#1… and Then Some’.
Dr. Allan Metzger, who was previously reprimanded for prescribing drugs to Janet Jackson using several aliases, recently turned over medical files associated with Michael Jackson per the LA County Coroner’s office. The doctor said that he last spoke with the late singer in April, regarding the King of Pop’s upcoming tour and that he had not treated Michael in ages. However, Dr. Metzger’s lawyer claims that the physician recently visited Michael’s home, where the singer specifically asked about using Propofol at home. Supposedly, the doctor advised against it and recorded notes about the meeting in Michael’s medical chart. There goes his excuse of not being his doctor.
Pink was forced to cancel her Monday night show in Brisbane, Australia as she was suffering from laryngitis. The show has since been rescheduled for July 27th and the original date’s tickets will be honored at the concert without a need to exchange them. The pop rock singer took to her Twitter account to talk a little about it saying “Had to cancel my first show in 2 years. No one feels worse than I do. Very sorry.” That’s quite ok dear. Every music fan should know how a tour schedule can take its toll on someone’s body. I just hope she gets better soon.
Panic at the Disco has sort of broken up. Members Ryan Ross, credited to be the creative mastermind, and Jon Walker are leaving the band to pursue other musical endeavors. According to their official website, “Though the four of us have made music together in the past, we’ve creatively evolved in different directions which has compromised what each of us want to personally achieve.” The remaining band members will continue to record and tour as planned. They obviously still want to make money under the name but who will take Ryan and Jon’s place? Would Panic at the Disco even be the same without them?

Michael Jackson’s highly anticipated ‘This is It’ spectacular which was set to go down at London’s O2 Arena will now continue as a tribute show. A-list performers are expected to appear and replicate what was planned for the late King of Pop’s shows. It has been rumored that Madonna will be taking the stage as the singer was set to make a surprise appearance during Michael’s run at the O2 Arena. According to a tour organizer, one performance is set to take place in September but a decision on where the show will take place has not been made yet. It is being said that the likeliest place will be LA though. I wonder who else will take part in it.
Michael Jackson had made it clear he would not agree to his London comeback shows unless controversial doctor Conrad Murray traveled with him.
The superstar so trusted Dr Murray – currently wanted for interviews by L.A. officials probing Jacko’s death – he wanted him with him at all times.
And he made it clear he wanted Dr Murray and not London’s finest medical minds to be with him when he finally came to Britain.
Randy Phillips, president and CEO of concert promoter AEG LIVE, said it was “almost a contractual condition” that Jackson have Dr. Murray at his side.
AEG officials told Jackson that “some of the best doctors in the world are in London” and that it “would make sense” to have those on call.
But Phillips said Jackson “insisted emphatically” on Murray and said that the doctor was prepared to go on sabbatical from his practice.
And to keep Jackson happy Phillips says AEG was preparing to advance Murray a “significant” amount of money to be with Jackson in London, with the plan to have traveled next week and stayed through next March
“Michael told me personally that he trusted this man,” Phillips said.
It was unclear how long Murray had been Jackson’s physician. Tohme Tohme, a family spokesman, said Murray had been in the position for about a year, but Phillips said he understood the relationship had been going on about three years. Tohme Tohme says the doctor had been summoned to actually live with Jackson about two weeks ago.
Phillips said Murray, who tried to resuscitate the fading Jackson inside his Bel Air home, was at the hospital when he arrived.
“He was there, very distraught all day. I saw him,” he said. “He could barely talk.”
Murray spoke briefly with investigators at UCLA Medical Center on Thursday and cops later impounded the silver BMW he had been using in search of clues leading to Jackson’s perplexing death.
